I solved this puzzle last year, but failed to find the cache---it was quite dark when I looked so I didn't log the DNF.

Being in the area today to do the Weston Wander circuit, I went back to the bridge to check my notes, found them in order, then went back to GZ. This time the cache took all of a minute to find! I'm not sure if I should thank better light, fewer leaves on the trees, a new GPSr, or just less ineptitude!

I should add that the hide is nicely done, and the cache itself warmly recommended.

If you do venture out at the moment though, please be aware that the road down to the bride is completely covered with ice (lightly dusted with frost): do be careful!

Annoyed at having forgotten to enter the solutions to my missing Rally Round and Thalamorph caches I decided to try my luck with the prequels. With fingers already frozen from the afternoon out in Maldon, I was soon at the cache and scrabbling not to drop it a second time. Having signed the log and got it back, the incipient snow shower changed my mind as to carrying on to the next. It can wait for sunnier and warmer times.

Nice to be out after 2 weeks been house bound. First find for the day with one clue missing. First attempt spot on. Never noticed there was a church after driving past so many times. Nice area and TFTC.

Done this one some time ago and with it out of action we almost lost the coordinates.Trooper spotted this one while I was following the GPS in a wrong place. Don't know how trooper does it without a GPS. Maybe she is hot on schoolfrenz scent. Left TB. TFTC

The weather is nice after the cold snap and a good opportunity to recover after a long break. Got confused with parking and cache location. Took unicorn and left Bupa TB. TFTC

Jogged past. As expected it was flooded nearby. The camo bag is saturated but the pill box contents are dry.

After Jens appauling failure at writing down the wrong co-ords last time we thought now we had the correct co-ords to hand we would go out and grab it while we were out this way. The ground was starting to freeze on the grassy areas but then we hit the Mud and there was certainly lots of it. We got to near GZ and we could see some cinders glowing from a fire, they had been tree clearing here today by the looks of things but the cache was tucked away safe and sound. SL@7.35pm TFTC.

This has taken us ages to solve as is always the way with the most simple of puzzles that are staring you in the face. The path to this cache was so very very wet and muddy. Our walking boots were in a right state after this, the joys of winter caching but we wouldnt have it any other way. We could hear the owls tonight and the area seemed quite eerie as a mist was starting to form across the fields. Reached the Cache location and another find for Jen, found in a neat little hidey hole. TookTB left King TB to continue his journey. Woohoo FTF, Jen spotted this come through this afternoon so she sent the link to Simon who solved half at work and then upon his return home worked the rest of the puzzle out and then had a quick bite to eat and out we went thinking we maybe in for a chance of FTF but to be honest held out little hope. Got to GZ and the co-ords were spot on as Jen soon spotted the likely hiding place and yes.... it was an empty log, I think it made our month. TNLN TFTC and this wonderful puzzle. SL@7.15pm

After a hectic morning with the tribe racing at Chelmsford Canoe Club, I left them all recovering and went on a needed maintenance check. When Brian phoned having solved RR31, I had to challenge him to solve RR30 before I could get to the parking spot.
Super sun setting as I walked along an extremely muddy path. Saw location and cache bag easily in the fading light. Unfortunately couldn't open the bag (sent message to owner). Improvised and pleased to find a blank log book. Took hairbrush - perfect for the little ones and left bouncy ball and a couple of other toys.
Took lovely GC to move on.

Had an excited phone call as I was leaving work at 6.30pm .... G had spotted this one, solved the puzzle and we were keen to set out asap in an attempt to be FTF! No gps, so Google Earth image in our heads, a streetmap and my Christmas pressie torch! Pitch black, but found easily. Thought we had made it first .... due to the knot on the bag! Took 5 minutes of delicate picking and pulling but managed to get the knot undone, held our breath .... beaten by Helennbrian. Reading their log, they weren't that much before us. Great puzzle, so we left a plastic puzzle and GC. Great fun in the mud. TFTC

119. Found all but one of the clues. Guessed the missing number and found the cache tucked away out of the cold.

Spurred on by RR30 and fun of TTop rally set off to find. Found easily despite lack of GPS as great clue. Took TB Left shoehorn mini selotape and sheriffs badge. Off to Schoolfrenz Schoolfrenz. TFTC.

Squelched our way to this one without any navigational difficulty, but we got slower and slower as we collected more and more mud! Farmer has planted over the footpath as shown on our Landranger map and only left a very narrow edge to the field, but was easy to see where we needed to be going. Easy route in summer we suspect! Found after a brief search in incorrect example, and managed not to fall in the ditch. Took GC, left mini kaleidoscope, Staples stapler and compass. We had solved this puzzle some time ago (well Jen did ) so as simon had been working this morning it was time this afternoon to tick some more RR's off the list and this was the 1st of todays RR's. As we approached No 500 could think of nothing better than a Rally Round cache as our landmark find. Delighted to have managed to solve this fantastic puzzle for the occasion.

Having forewarned Schoolfrenz of our imminent find we were able to join him and MrsSchoolfrenz for a celebratary cuppa. A most enjoyable morning.

We parked up a little way from the footpath start on the opposite side of the road. Soon on our way along the footpath and we quickly reached cache #1. We didn't hang around long as it was freezing - after doing the sums to get the next point we ran along the path to warm up again.

The ground was really frozen solid along the footpath. We quickly spotted the cache hiding place for this one and retrieved it. After signing the log we returned back up to the car as it was time to move on (and warm up a bit!).

Jen solved this puzzle earlier today, after much researching!! (I just couldnt get the co-ords dead on and then I struck lucky and realised the error of my ways) So tonight we were keen to go and get it. Parked up and had a nice moonlit walk down to the cache. Even the rabbits werent out tonight!!!! After a few minutes of searching we found this nicely hidden cache. Took TB and left Donkeys Pass TB. TFTC SL 7.35pm

Had popped in to collect the puzzle answers last week on the way home in the dark.... using my Christmas present megatorch! Didn't spot location then, but no gps, so was saving for next time passing after a look on Google Earth. Pleased to find fairly quickly today on our way to the Rivenhall Church Micro. We spent a fun hour preparing for a day of Schoolfrenz caches, made brie/tomato/onion wraps for our lunch and headed off with many sheets of paper, no gps and no OS map. Thank goodness for Streetmap, Google Earth and Grahames ability to calculate and plot co-ordinate variations mathematically when we get to the clues! Walk to cache was very muddy and rutted today but we paced the approximate distance and found relatively easily. SL Took TB and left metal puzzle

Took a while trying to solve this one on the map, but each route from start point seemed to get us about half a dozen checkpoints then go wrong, As in this area today, tried by following the routes in the car, same problem. Fairly sure that we were in the right place for footpath starting point so just followed our noses with our cachers eyes wide open. Soon certain we were in the right direction and ..... BINGO! Just 2 'Chatter Muggles' sitting on a bench today, so relatively easy to get to cache without attracting attention. Easy find although cache had fallen into ditch. Replaced where it must have fallen from. Thoroughly enjoying Schoolfrenz day out. SL Took TB and metal chicken, left puzzle. TFTC

We had previously got part-way with the puzzle, but when the method dawned on us, we had no internet access here, so decided to follow the path and open all of the cachers eyes and exercise our intuition. Enjoyed the puzzles. Did this one before a pint in local pub to plan the rest of our days caching. We are happily exploring this area and it will be great fun to fill in more 'Schoolfrenz gaps' on nice days with the motorbike! SL TFTC

I was feeling very sorry for myself, bunged up with cold/flu ... whatever. Even more frustrated that this new nearby cache was unclaimed after a couple of days and I was being a stop-at-home wimp. Add to that, the owners were King of Schoolfrenz caches (60 found of 67) and I hadn't grabbed one of theirs yet.
Mrs Schoolfrenz was about to go out. "Hey, I'm feeling great" (not really, but she would worry if I was honest) "Drop me at Chigborough Lakes; I'm going to grab that Blackwater cache and then walk home". The pretense worked.
On a grey but mildish day I strode along the Estuary path gulping in the therapeutic river air. Not so easy at GZ since I'd tuned my blind groping hand to search for a different sized cache ... but was the log strip blank? Yes! A long while since I had a FTF
Now the long walk home gulping in the therapeutic countryside air. A 6.35 mile walk in total for a single cache was a bit OTT, but the unbunging was a bonus.

this is the one we thought we would DNF as we werent sure if we would find the numbers needed
the one between 4 and 5 were the ones worrying us as it was dark lol
but we manged and sorted and logged in the co ords
after leaving 10 we came to where we tho the path turned towards the bonus but due to worrying bot dark farm tracks [weird eh lol] i just walked 7 odd miles in the dark lol
we decided on a route that we knew and was on route
location was found no problem

We decided we would tackle this series in two goes rather than one; 7.5 miles on a drizzly, misty day seemed a bit too much. This one was an easy find.....indeed, they all were!

The bag has certainly seen better days but regrettably we didn't have a replacement on us. But again an easy find.

Another straightforward find.....we had already decided just to do the first five of this series and leave the rest, plus the bonus, for another time. So we headed back to the car, via another cache, after this one. But a very enjoyable walk thus far.....all co-ords spot on and caches easy to find. Just as we like them. Many thanks!

As previously reported this cache was rather wet. Pre-armed with paper towels the cache has been dried and soggy bits removed. The hole in the lid has been bunged as a temporary measure. Repairs should be good for a while. Grabbed a rusting TB to move on.

Almost a disaster. I'd been complaining recently about local footpaths and their furniture to ECC. I had no idea they would install a kissing gate near this GZ. The hiding place had moved and after much searching the cache was found safe buried under twigs and leaves, and tucked in a camo carrier bag. All now restored as intended.
Placed a TB grabbed from Tolleshunt Bell 1.

First of the day for us. We went off and had a very good view of Osea island. Not tempted to cross via the causeway as the tide was in. Went in search of the cache and found ourselves stalled by a fence. Fortunately it was very quiet so we hoisted No3 over over the fence and sent her off to find the cache..... which she duly did!!

Thought it was about time I ticked a few Schoolfrenz caches off the list. So I sat down last Sunday afternoon and worked through a dozen puzzles, with the idea that I'd go and find 'em today. Unfortunately, I didn't manage to leave the house until gone 1pm, and by the time I got the parking space, I really only had time to go for the novel series, before the light began to fade.

After adding the appropriate numbers to the co-ordinates I had worked out from the puzzle, I was soon on my way to the cache. Very heavy going and, as was the case with much of the walk today, I was carrying half my body-weight in mud on my boots!

Nice quick find and a pleasant, if sticky, walk.

Another quick find. By now I weighed about 34 stones with the accumulation of mud, but it was still an enjoyable walk, with some lovely scenery to look at on the way.

Quick dash on a very cold winter day. Easy find.

Double socks, best scarves, thick wooly gloves and homemade millionaires shortbread as an en-route treat and off to cache on a cold but sparkling day! Lots of horses and chickens to see along the way. Pretty walks around here. Found easily. SL Took piglet rubber, left Litter Bug. G picked up litter on the way back to commemorate the moment. TFTC

G gets all of the credit for solving this, as with many of the RRs that we have completed. My contribution was scintillating company, making the fantastic munchies and 20/20 cachers eyes. Solved this puzzle whilst enjoying a lunchtime pint in front of a rolling log fire. No doubt the relaxing local muggles thought we were a bit strange, with sheets of paper all over the table and a deep fascination for manipulating numbers! Headed off to gz without checking the cache description, so the misunderstanding that we were looking for a small clip-lock initially threw us off the scent in terms of likely hiding places! Quick re-read and it was found quickly. Rain not deterring us, so off for RR 14A. SL TFTC

We had walked this path yesterday without solving the puzzle, but as we were in the area decided to get our bearings. We laughed at a stump in a swamp and discussed the prospect that it would make a hiding place ..... so thanks for not putting it there! Initially walked past gz, as without gps we were relying on pacing the comparative distances from landmarks after a looking at Google Earth last night. Missed this at first attempt but found it on returning to pub. Getting late so decided to leave the rest of the caches to another time. TFTC

Having met up with Schoolfrenz at Thornton yesterday it seemed appropriate to look for some more of his caches. Had to back track as managed to type in one of the coords wrongly. TFTC

This one has been bugging me for a while (Jen) and I managed to work out the anagram last night and couldnt apply the logic, but I got a call from Simon this morning at 9.00am from work saying I have solved it.....as I was going to pick him up shortly to go and collect one of our vans from a garage in colchester I decided a detour was in order, simon wasnt aware of this until we were on our way. Down in Essex to collect a large item I bought on e-bay. This walk seemed the right length. Had second thoughts when I arrived as it was pouring. In my haste to start, managed to leave all details about the bonus behind.

The walk down to #1 went on forever and with the rain I would have returned if the path along the wall was muddy. Luckily it looked wet but little mud, so on I went. By #4 my feet were getting wet but decided to carry on.

Recognised parts of this stretch from my youth, when my dad’s best friend used to launch a little boat the other side of the river in Little Bradwell. We used to cruise down this way.
Luckily the rain stopped towards the end, but the wind still kept howling.

I’m not a fan of nano’s, but this series has been well thought out and they have all been easy to find.
Walked just over 7 miles in about three hours. Shame I missed out on the bonus.

TTF Solved the puzzle, harder than expected but not the anagram. Set out after work in hope rather than expectation with torch, full moon and good google/street map research (ie cricket pitch is 22 yards). Paced to cache vicinity and using cacher's intuition soon found. (terrain 1.5?) Solved anagram on return to car! SL Took herb seeds as unlikely to germinate in dark! Left fountain pen and I-L-Tiptree sticker.

I had a couple of Schoolfrenz solved puzzles logged in my Garmin so I thought this was an opportune time to do them!

I knew exactly where this was going to be.....isn't it typical; the one place in the whole of this part of Essex where there are temporary traffic lights is just where I needed to go? Still, managed to park and headed where I knew it was going to be, except the Garmin told me I was getting further away. So let the Garmin be my guide.....and a quick find! Hadn't quite expected this type of container however so now I'm warned.

During our holidays in Cabanas, we found this cache! Thank you for hiding and showing us this nice spot! Many Berüchtigten-Greetings from Switzerland!

Semi-solved co-ords puzzle and anagrams, enough to locate on map. Another lovely footpath walk to cache then easy find. Took TB. SL Really enjoy the puzzling and the ultimate satisfaction of solving the anagrams even if only afterwards! TFTC.

Description and map interpretation lead to nice easy relevent find. Still unsure about N --º --.-EE E 000º --.-NN. Carried out roadside repairs. SL TFTC.

On way to Two Duck Raid, passing parking co-ords having solved location anagram, and much unrewarded frustration with rally decided to look for possilbe hides. "We'll do two each" led to 22 and eureka! Will be forever trying to finish rally we think. Great hide TFTC. SL took TB left magnets.

No GZ ainda andámos um pouco às voltas e mesmo depois de recorrer à hint a coisa não estava fácil e foi necessário alargar um pouco o raio de acção e tudo fez sentido e lá estava o container bem guardado no seu invólucro de pano ...

We did the first part of this series about six weeks ago when it was a filthy day; wet, windy and misty. But today....the first full day of Spring....was suitably different; bright, sunny and quite warm. So it was nice to be able to see where we were going and what was around!

This was a nice easy find.

Well, from the previous cache we could see this one in the distance and there were quite a number of walkers out today. One particular couple were about 100 yards ahead of us and I felt sure they were going to take a rest here. Luckily they didn't!

When we got there and took our own opportunity to rest we were entertained by the farmer rounding up his sheep....on a glorified quad bike! Brings a whole new dimension to One Man and his Dog!

The farmer was still rounding up his sheep as we went round the sea wall but now he was on foot with a couple of his children. He was trying to get them to go under the electrified fence the bottom line of which had been lifted up. So spent a bit of time watching....partly so as not to disturb the sheep too much....and then a quick chat.

Then off to the cache. This time someone was taking a rest at the spot....obviously thought transference worked because as we got within about 200 feet they set off again!

Another nice and easy find. The gaps between the caches in this series are just the right length and the caches themselves easy to find. Just what we like!

And so to the bonus. When we plugged the co-ords in we realised that in walking back to our car after doing the first five last month we had passed it by but conditions today were much more pleasant! A lovely series; too much for us to do in one go but very enjoyable.

Solved the puzzle, so had the co-ords .... only solved the anagram for the location when we got there! We seem to have fallen into a routine,and it's me who signs the logs while G sorts out the swaps, so with micros and nanos, he has time to just sit around and admire the view. Excellent, fun hide. Having enjoyed an excellent pint and a yummy lunch, we headed out on the Little Totham Swan route carrying just the route map printed out from the cache description (not realising at this point that it was missing the last page of the Waypoints!). We have no gps so when we find the clues, we just calculate mathematically roughly how far and in which direction. Pleased to find easily. Having all but the last page of the waypoints printed out and missed 2 of the 3 hydrants, this was where we entered unknown territory! Had the footpath overview, so just followed our noses and kept our eyes peeled for likely examples of the location anagram. Amazed to find, having decided that we had no chance. Just time for a short section of this series as the light is beginning to fade and we missed lunch due to unexpectedly being delayed at work, so tummies are starting to rumble!! Enjoyed our walk to the cache .... we were escorted by 9 curious horses, who joined us and followed us the whole way! A strange experience, but we wouldn't have missed it. Found the cache easily, logs helpful. SL Took cars & TBs. Had intended to leave a GC, but realised that we'd left it in the car ... sorry. Left a tape measure, Jelly Baby keyring & 1 dollar. TFTC

Walking from TB #2, without gps, so had a look around several likely candidates but didn't spot this one. Will be back to walk the route as intended, we enjoyed the Little Totham Swan series so much recently .... at this point we gave in to the lure of an excellent pint at the Swan. 2 people at the adjacent table had curries which smelt fantastic ..... so our plans to cook a beautiful meal when we got home went out of the window and we went straight to the indian takeaway!!!

Rather than walk back we walked the long way around. Twigs galore at gz. hope replaced as well camo-ed as found.(not an easy task) SL Took shiny cat, left large paper clip, guest soap and 1973 1 Kr. TFTC(s)

Not stumped by this one thankfully. Contents wet and log damp. SL Took red nose 10 pin, left magnet and €0.10 TFTC off to the other 831 cm.

Found on a detour from the Tollshunt Bell walk. Had previously searched here but was unsure we had followed the puzzle correctly. If we had the correct location then there were only a few suspects. About to give up thinking if there was one RR we were never going to find this was it, when ! ! ! ! ! ! Incredibly well hidden. SL Took GC and red smiley, left blue tit badge, soap and 10Kr coin (2000). Replaced as found, good hunting! TFTC. Off to complete the walk feeling rather smug.

Puzzle took far too long to solve due to "zero blindness". Once solved walk to cache was extremely pleasant, podering the anagram implication. Gz didn't disappoint. SL TFTC. Left pondering how the rural scaffolding had exited its original berth, unhinged we surmised.

Confirmed location anagram with help of google street view so drove straight to it. SL TFTC.

Out today doing whole walk. Decided against renewing our acquaintance with the nine horses. (looked very frisky). Walked along field boundary in adjacent field and rejoined at gz. Dropped off GC.

Plyon found easily but printout only had partial co-ords for nearest waypoint. Underterted, looked for partially built structure before realising other meaning of clue. Took yellow mini peg and flag pin. Left LFC badge and 1965 US quarter ('65 being the 1st time Liverpool won the FA cup). Completed the walk returning to the Bell for very nice mugs of coffee. Took a look at this as I was maintaining CM831 - Revisited. Well twigged. Thanks gillywig.

Cache has had a makeover.
Dried out and a clean log sheet in place. Rusty keyring removed. There are cute skating teddy bears here.
Cache has been covered with natural material to keep the weather out.

I love this sort of puzzle, so I had it solved fairly quickly. The cache took me quite a bit longer! The signal was a bit erratic, so I wandered up and down for a while, until I was on the verge of giving up and then I spotted it, right in front of my eyes!

Interesting puzzle, but an even more intriguing cache…the footpath has been fenced off for some reason. It's easily passable, but I felt a little awkward. Once at the cache site, I searched for several minutes with no luck. I sat down and deciphered the clue which pointed me to where I was already looking and I still couldn't find it! I decided to give up and began to walk away, then changed my mind, looked back and spotted it! Great hide.

Now this puzzle had me going for some time. Even the clue didn't help at first but, as with a lot of puzzles, once you stop trying to make it more difficult than it is, the penny drops!

Even though I knew that I had the co-ords right, I still felt a little nervous about searching, especially as it took me a couple of minutes to find, but I had the log signed and the cache returned without being discovered.

Last of today's Rally Rounds. This puzzle was rather harder for me, but I managed it eventually. The cache was smaller than I was expecting, but I was lucky enough to go straight to it.

Thanks for a brilliant day's caching and many happy hours solving puzzles! I've now done about half of the ones I have solved, so I'll be back, hopefully this weekend, to do the others. Then it's on to more puzzle solving!

We really enjoyed this one.
Collected the answers to the questions in no time at all & miscalculated the co-ordinates by not following the correct mathmatical rules ( x before + ) which put the cache several miles away near Long Melford. Mr BB quickly spotted the mistake and soon the cache appeared a lot closer.
Set off up the path & soon found ourselves on high ground with nice views.
On arriving at GZ we agreed on the probable location. Mr BB searched and declared that the cache was elsewhere, so we wandered around and searched the local neighbourhood. Mrs BB returned to the original search area, only to spot the cunning cache hidey hole!

We continued on the circular path but on encountering a footpath sign that was obviously disorientated, we ended up in the middle of a field. We soon managed to correct our error & ended up in familiar territory (a previous caching trip to the Bradley View series).
This was a really nice walk and it was amazing to find a cache in such pristine condition, but we were only the 5th people to find it.

We thought we'd have another go at this one today. Got to GZ and with solved anagram in hand thought we'd find it easily. There were no golfers to be seen so we had the freedom to look easily. After 30 minutes though we were stumped. We'll have to decipher the other hint and try for third time lucky!!! We will be back!!!

Relatively easy puzzle, but made a right pig's ear of the cache! Turned up at the parking spot a couple of days ago and found 6 and 7, but realised I'd entered the co-ords into the gps wrongly for this one, so I returned today only to find that I couldn't find the entrance to the footpath…did a fair bit of walking trying to find it, only to discover, on my return to the car, that I was just a few feet away! Did I feel like a doughnut? Yes!

Pleasant walk to the cache and an…interesting…hide! Amazing what you find in the woods!

Puzzle solved after a fair bit of research, so off to the cache!

Lovely walk to the cache. Spring has definitely sprung, as butterflies and bumble bees are starting to appear (although the huge rat I spotted on the way back to the car wasn't such a welcome sight!). Couldn't get a good enough fix to spot where the hiding place was, gps was a bit unstable, but after wandering about a bit, I spotted something that didn't look quite right and there was the cache! Nicely hidden!

This puzzle has taken us ages to solve, going backwards and forwards to this one, so in view of Geotrowels recent log stating it was an easy puzzle to solve Jen sat down at her desk this morning and was determined to solve it. Within 10 minutes she had!! I think sometimes we dont think logically enough and go off on tangents. Solving this puzzle made Jen's day. So tonight only one thing to do which was go ad find it. This is a GRrrrrrrr moment and a I'm sure we looked there moment. Having solved both anagrams we decided we would take another look as we were collecting some more RR's this evening. A lovely stroll across the fields and the first place we look 'Bingo' isnt that always the way. Really fustrating but even more satisfying when you finally find it. Well this morning as Jen was on a puzzle solving mission (she didnt solve that many in fact only 1 - heehee) this was one she kept looking at and just couldnt phathom out. She had Google earth and google maps target every watery crossing in the Tolleshunt area. Jen was convinced it was at a certain location (dont ask why as it made no sense to Simon) and made Simon drive there so she could have a rummage. Whilst Jen Searched Simon didnt move from the car (he wasnt helpful in the quest) So Jen gave up and returned to the car, where Simon said told you that was a wasted trip as I have solved it!!! hmmmmmmmm............ok Jen's idea was a long shot.....so off we went to find the cache and a nice quick and easy find too once we arrived at GZ. A very simple puzzle if you use your brain properly... TFTC SL@6.50pm

FTF While at micro 1, we spotted someone walking towards us. It seemed that when they saw us, they turned back and we speculated as to whether we would find the logsheet in this cache already signed. Nice hide. Interesting extraction - easier with 2 of us! Pleased to find log empty and signed. Rescued another chick, left trolley coin. TFTC

FTF Becoming anxious about restaurant booking due to 1 of the micros being particularly difficult to locate (lack of gps didn't help). Easier location calculation than usual. Helped by having previously walked the route. Not completely dry but a leap of faith led to find. SL Rescued chick, left golf ball. TFTC. Back to car to change into respectable, restaurant- going human beings! Resigned to the fact that time and confusion over co-ords means that GBW-1 has escaped us for the time-being!

FTF We had planned a few caches on our way to eat out when we spotted the wall had dryness. So without GPS we set out just to find the micros, hoping perhaps to calculate the odd gz on the hoof. Unconventially started with the last micro R06. This proved to be quite a challenge in itself. Off to R05 with cachers eyes wide desperate for a Schoolfrenz FTF. Great joy and satisfaction ensued as we discovered a possible location, cache and a blank log sheet. Duly signed and chick rescued. Left Puck geocoin and set off again with great optimism pondering who we might meet coming the other way and what happened to GBW-1. TFTC fantastic!

FTF Pleasantly surprised to find that the log sheet was still clean! SL Took hairclip and left geobadge. TFTC. Celebrated the series with a lovely cup of coffee and brunch in the clubhouse. We were made very welcome and they didn't even laugh at my request for a cheese and beetroot toastie - delicious! Thank you for the recommendation.

How disappointing our last one in the series and just could not find it - we went over this sea wall and the sign with a fine tooth comb cannot believe we fell at fence 10 - very sad x x A very long walk back - will go and do church micro to cheer ourselves up.

What a beautiful building and setting! "Found the clues - but you've guessed it - all bar one! Louise Whyte. However, simply widened search and cache swiftly found. Whilst looking around the graveyard I kept wandering into clouds of midges - guess there are plenty here because of the lake. However, it would seem that that time of year has come when copious quantities of midge repelent is required before a cacher can ventrue out! TFTC and a fantastic afternoon's caching.

This made a change for a RR cache....not only could we work out the puzzle but the hint as well! Really nice walk to this cache. The local water board have taken up residence today right by the parking spot....at least I knew it was safe to leave the geo wagon!

Arrived home from a trip away at 3am this morning - a journey which should have taken 1.5 hours took 6 due to the delights of the M25. Decided this little series was just what I needed to recover from the trauma but little one decided she's make alternative arrangements to bake cakes! Micro 1 - aghh! GPS refused to settle and I simply couldnt work out which particular clue I should be searching! Lovely walk along the wall on a glorious afternoon. Loads of caches to look for and plenty of interest. Pity Jess didn't come with me - path was good enough for her to have ridden her bike along the route and she would have loved finding so many pots. Really enjoyed the series which must have taken a lot of planning to go so well. TFTC and Really Great Series. Now to sample the hot cake!!

Having found the micros with only difficulties at No 1, started the return leg to find the caches. Looked at this location first but cache too well hidden to spot so widened search. Eventually came back to this and rumaged a little further - big smiles at unearthing it. Wondered why it was stuffed with a carrier bag but note McWs note! TFTC

My only DNF of the day and, keeping the difficulty of the other caches in the series in mind, I believe that this one may have gone. Owner emailed.

This is where things started to get very muggly! There was a whole group standing around near the cache, so I surreptitiously retrieved and replaced the cache without them noticing.

Ended up talking to them and introduced them to geocaching…may be some new converts!

Muggles everywhere! And two of them sitting on this bench eating their lunch! Decided to leave this one for another day and walked past, only to realise that I hadn't retrieved the clue for the bonus! So I went butterfly watching for a while and after about five minutes, they left and I was able to retrieve the cache.

Solved the puzzle relatively quickly (well, quickly for a Schoolfrenz cache, anyway. It's all relative!), so it was time to find the cache. Parked up at the suggested co-ordinates and started off to the cache. Got to gz pretty quickly and retrieved the cache. As I stood up, I looked to my left and a girl talking on a mobile 'phone was just a few feet away. Appeared out of nowhere! Thankfully, she seemed far too interested in her conversation to take any notice of what I was doing! Wandered off a bit to sign the log, then replaced cache on my way back to the car.

Laboured over the puzzle a bit too much, but got there in the end. Nice quick walk to the cache and, after looking in entirely the wrong place to begin with, found it quite quickly.

Geotrowel should have found a new log sheet here. I visited early this afternoon to remove snails, dry the cache and replace the log.

Solved puzzle after a little research and confirmed the co-ords, so it was off to the cache! Lovely spot for a cache, beautiful location with a lovely pond. Really enjoyed the short walk to this one. Found cache quite quickly, but I like the hide.

Stroke of luck here. There has been much ditch dredging and widening, but despite all the upheaval the cache remains safe and dry.

To the bonus! Everything, today, was near perfect: the weather was brilliant, it must be peacock butterfly season; fantastic walk; caching…superb day out.

The caches are far from difficult, but the wonderful walk, with lovely views, makes this a series well-worth doing. I'd quite happily do this walk without the caching, it's that nice.

Congratulations to Scoolfrenz on setting a really fantastic series.

FTF By the time we sat down with a cuppa to see what the caching world had been up to today, it was dark. Quickly solved this puzzle and set off for a breath of fresh night air. Roads strangely quiet this evening. Walked to gz by torchlight and found cache after a brief search, but after a rather longer search through our pockets realised that we'd left the pen in the car! Still, the exercise is good for us. Like the container SL TFTC

we chose to pack in the pub in gt.braxted and do the micros in reverse great series interesting walking along the wall noting all the date stones set in it. Thanks

The cache is fine and well-stocked, but lonely.
It's a great shame there is only one public right of way through the Chigborough Lakes Such a large and beautiful area, which today had about half a dozen anglers when it could easily accommodate hundreds of geocachers.
I've slowed down the animation and downrated the difficulty of the puzzle to attract more customers.

A bright sunny evening, perfect for a walk with a purpose ... caches! Enjoyed the stroll and found easily. SL Took bagatelle and Red Nose 2003 pin. Left blue pencil sharpener and smiley. TFTC Quick calculation of Polycache 2 location with maths, ruler and streetmap ... and off to find the cache.

Walked to the 'X' we had plotted on the map in the late sunshine and found after a brief exploration. Lots of opportunities for hides here, laughed at some of our unnecessary searching.SL TFTC With the information for Polycaches 3 & 4, decided to look for one more before heading home. Quick calculation and plotting on our trusty map with our scratched school ruler, off we go!

A couple of possible candidates to explore once we got to gz, but didn't take too long to find. Had to snatch the cache from the ant and woodlice inhabitants of the cache's home, but luckily they only have little hands, so can't hold onto it very hard! Liked the hide. SL TFTC on this beautiful spring evening!

Returning from a visit to Maldon we had always intend to look for this, as we had left it alone yesterday. We seemed to have misplaced gz by some 50m and wondered if we were completely lost as OS map didn't relate to planet earth. Walk to revisit PC2 comfirmed we were where we thought we where. Lack of likely hides led to further misplaced wanderings. Resigned to re-checking on Google Earth we set off for the car. "Could it be here?" "we would have" and hurrah! Excellent end to a wonderful day out topped and tailed with SF caches. SL TFTseries.

Out for a short walk with Bendos, didn't start too well as we spent ages hunting for the first micro. Well done Bendos for spotting it, as it would have been a very short walk. Found easily enough. TFTC.

Lovely morning for a walk so we started with this one. Clues found very easily and off along the footpath. Great location for final cache but we didn't try out the rope swing! Took hen left archer TFTC

Cache safe and dry although the plastic hook to withdraw the log is missing. You might need tweezers to make extraction easier.

We have felt we knew what to do for some time. Finally came so close to a solution that Geochecked and Success!! Realised had made careless positional mistake early on. This is in our view one of the harder RR's (up there with RR30 for intellectual perserverence), worth a 4 for difficulty with an additional 0.5 for searching at gz.
SL in lovely warm sunshine and dry underfoot. Not for the first time did we solve the anagram on the way back!
Looking forward to puzzling over the remaining RR's with the prospect one day of another FTF!

Shocked myself by solving this puzzle really quickly last night, so it seemed rude not to attempt a find today!

Very pleasant walk to the cache (lovely little lake, well worth a visit!) and a short search revealed the prize. Very well camouflaged container, it's difficult to spot.

I've added the following to the text above following enquiries:

"The caches will be a mixture of small to medium clip boxes (about 10); the rest will be camouflaged micros. The instructions and map handed out at the start should give sufficient information for the courses to be followed without a GPS or additional maps."

A beautiful day and we're lucky enough to be off work! We've been saving this walk for just such a day! Started well with a FTF at Heather Hills, so set off with map (no gps), sandwiches, smiles and confidence. After a brief debate about which way round the route we would go, decided that we should walk as the route was set. ie 1 - 10. Searched at obvious location but didn't find. Never mind, undeterred set off and thoroughly enjoyed our walk, finding 2 - 10 and bonus with no problems. A great walk with lots of varied interest, another memorable caching day!

A fabulous sunny day for caching and no-one to be seen. Easy find at obvious gz .... only when we got to #8 did we remember that we should have picked up a clue for the bonus here! We (I) had even written a 'note to self' on the cache list we walked with!
Sandwiches all eated at #1 so plan to work up an appetite then suggest a pub supper if we find the bonus.

This is a brilliant walk, full of "look at that" moments. First look at the map and you might think this is for birdwatchers but there's so many different points of varied interest, acres of sky and all that fresh air! These are also the first coastal caches that we've done when the tide has been in!

We had printed the map from the cache description and set off with just that and some pencilled noted re: co-ords to help us with the bonus cache location. Without gps, it would be a case of working out where it fitted in relation to the given lat/longs of the caches along the walk. We have an interest in railways and had read an information board at the Tiptree Jam Factory Museum recently which described the development and aspirations for this railway line and the pier. Great to stand on the spot and look up and down the obvious route.

Not very good footpath signs here and I confess to doing a bit of cross-country!

Having realised that we forgot to collect a clue, this was going to be an educated guess. Managed to take a wrong turn coming away from #10, but managed to re-join our route fairly quickly. Had an idea of where this might be from plotting the co-ords in relation to the cache locations along the route which we had written down. As we walked back to the car, found in our best guess location.

A tricky puzzle hint and then a tricky puzzle (maybe more than 3*). Had us stumped for a while. Then relief as it fell into place.
Fortunately the cache hunt was not so tricky.

I took the longer walk up the green lane and once past the houses it was quite idyllic - just the shouting and swearing from the football match on the playing fields in the distance. Great little hide, I walked past it twice without spotting the hide itself.

A departure from the standard and quality of puzzle caches I've come to expect from the fiendish intellect of Schoolfrenz, in that I couldn't solve it.
In my humblest opinion it is by far the hardest puzzle cache so far. Congratulations to HelennBrian for working thorough it and for passing on some pointers as I'd already waved the white flag.
I think the puzzle is particularly hard because to my mind it's a flawed gem as there's a gap in the logic/reasoning. I had to make too many guesses and lean heavily on the solution checker to work out the solution rather than first deduce it and then check whether it was right - a whole separate philosophical argument!
In all previous puzzles there's been exultation when the solution was arrived at, this time I was positively flat - a very weird feeling.

As to the cache itself, a rather devious hide and another nice footpath in Totham that's not marked on the maps!!!

Thanks for the puzzle cache - IMHO one of your hardest but I suspect one of your loneliest.

After having had the error of my ways revealed to me (I was thinking too literally for the between waypoints and had somehow read 3/4" so had been searching round 7 bar gates!) - so today I eventually found. Having waited for the lady jogger and junior cycle support team to pass, I quickly popped out and retrieved.

This may need a maintenance check as the rubber seal disintegrated on opening. I'm not sure whether the water-tightness will be affected but I didnt ensure it was firmly closed.

Pulled up by the hydrant to collect the info and then parked down by the church and had a pleasant walk around several footpaths to get to the cache. A really nice afternoon for a walk although the rain clouds on the horizon added a certain urgency. The cache had me foxed for a little while but then soon worked out where it could be and there it was. Again the rubber seal disintegrated on opening - same batch or is it just me? Not sure whether this will affect the watertightness or not but made sure the lid was tightly fastened.

Did this one's clues a few weeks back but ran out of time to do it. Dropped in on Schoolfrenz after the cache for a coffee. It was lovely to meet you both and hope to meet up at the meet. The mud here is magnetic and I had half of Essex on my boots on my return! The recommendation of The Swan at Lt. Totham for lunch was an EXCELLENT choice too.

Doh Doh And thrice Doh! Should have known how to solve, having used the idea ourselves. Even had solved the location anagram for a change. Took alternative footpath at start then entered crop gully to gz. Find nicely tucked away. SL as sun set, then set off hoping to reach the Tollshunt Bell before last food orders. Beef curry macaroni chesse and the last two pints of Spooky moon (plus Wifi) resulted in logging our find soonest. TFTC. Thoughts already returning to RR32, does Olive frequent the pub? After finding RR33 yesterday we turned our attention to this over morning coffee. Anagram solution made sense as being older we were at school before calculators (BC)! Beautiful wooded glade with burbling brook and very interesting flora. Cache located quickly thanks to streetmap, woods can be difficult with gps we are led to believe so without we are always extra pleased to find the cache. Camo bag very wet but cache and contents in perfect condition. SL took blue rubber left protractor and DNF GC (Mrs Ski's). TFTC and a lovely stroll.

Bumped into Gillywig last night and got some ideas from them. Will have to meet up with Gillywig more often. All looks good at GZ. T4TC

Did this one with Stevkel who didn't put our name in the log. Took a little while to find, had to walk further along seawall then come back and found it straight away. TFTC

Found on return from sea wall after considerable search. Inspired hide When found by one of us the other wanted to find for himself. Further extensive searching minutes passed until found. SL TFTC.

Clear signs of cacher activity at GZ - trampled nettles/grass and newly snapped twigs! "Oh no" I thought "not a Schoolfrenz camo nano!" But the sneeky hide soon revealed itself and Kitty signed in glee and set off to Prequel No 2. TFTC

First find of the day, breaking the walk to TWSW-1 nicely. Not surprised to find Mel-Ray as FTF (well done). SL TFTC

Arrived at GZ and winced at the thought of searching for a camo nano here -Ivy made me suspect I was in for a long search - but Schoolfrenz came up trumps and cache swiftly in hand. . It then started to rain and Kitties don't like getting wet! However, I had discovered a bag of Chocolate Eclaire toffees in the glove compartment on the drive over to Tollesbury and the choco-toffee mix was having a nauseous effect on me. I thus decided that the principle I had addopted with said bag of CEs was that which needed to be applied to caching - "I've started - so I'll finsih"! Wishing that I hadnt been such a glutton I set off to right my DNF at No 5 on the long, but extremely pleasant, route round the sea wall! TFTC and

Well, the rain that started at Prequel 2 quickly disappeared and a pleasant 'walk' was had between that and this cache. Feeling guilty about the Chocolate Eclaires I had decided that running along the sea wall was best option to counter the effects but quickly (ie 1 minute later) remembered that walking boots and running don't go! Cache quickly found this time round and continued the circular route up to Sequel 1. ( Does this mean a Sequel 2 is planned?). TFTC

Walking past here last time we thought this could have been the bonus location! Pleased to find quickly. SL TFTC.

Gillywig may have found it quickly, but Kitty didn't! Thought this was going to be a dreaded DNF but found it on the inevitable "lets give it one last try". Found by touch as well concealed. I had tried several locations but should have trusted the co-ords.

Really pleased with these three extra caches as I had to visit No 5 again in any event - and the three new ones made it a great circular trip. Really enjoyed the caches and circuit - especially as it must have countered about 1 of those wretched chocolate eclaires!

There will now be a 25th cache, although this will not form part of the Time Trial since access to it will depend on the state of the moon.

We intend on going for the full course of 11 miles or so!! In the hope we can tire Holly and Charlie out :-)

Surprisingly Little One has opted for a day playing computer games and cake baking so I will be aiming for the long circuit! It took me 4hrs 20 mins to get round the Hanningfield TT circuit of just over 9 miles so this could be a very long day!

I placed the caches today: the paths are good and the caches are all in easy to find places.
The day was perfect: cool with a slight salty breeze, and in 11 miles I only met one birdman and two doggles.
I'm no twitcher but the marshes were alive with flocks of big unknown (to me) birds.

Hurrah. Paperwork in place. Go find.

One of the downsides to solving cache puzzles on the back of a scrap of paper is remember where you put them when the cache goes live. Needless to say I spent a quick 25 mins solving them again but then it's always easier the second time round.
Couldn't park where I parked last time so decided on this cache first. Having found a fence blocking my path I did a grand tour before finding the necessary gate. I'd found the cache and was just in the process of reassembling when I was muggled!
"Hello" cried a little voice "Don't worry I haven't seen you!".
The voice introduced herself as Jo, one of the wardens out walking her dog and off to see whether the reports of a barn owl in the woods to south of the heath were correct. Had a bit of chat about caching and the heath in general and I could tell she was dying to tell me where the other one of Ray's caches was.
A nice little puzzle and a great evening to be wandering the heath. I don't think I've seen quite so many song thrushes in quite a while.
Took nothing, left nothing and many thanks at last for the cache.

This one took slightly longer to recalculate because I was rushing and consistently got two numbers muddled up. Took the scenic walk from Caroline2 and say a couple of munkjac deer in addition to a while plethora of song thrushes, or perhaps it was the same thrush stalking me. Having not completely solved the clue I had to search for a bit - very well camouflaged and I've hopefully put it back just as naturally as I found it.

Worked a mega-day yesterday and didn't have a chance to look at emails, let alone get out in the field! Set off knowing that geo-checker was on our side, so quite confident (no gps, but we're pretty good with Streetmap and Google Earth combined). Unusual puzzle, required a leap of faith, one of us was disparaging .... the other was proved right ..... not that caching is competitive!! SL Freed chick & took ring. Solved this over a month ago and been watching in sympathy as it took ages for Natural England to review one of our caches! Walked past anticipated gz when we visited Linda & Bens Jam Packed Cache. SL Took 'Chick & Pin', left Southern Comfort playing cards. TFTC

Took a walk & all OK.

Advance warning that I shall be moving this cache about 0.25 miles down the road this week. So prospective finders should re-check the cache status before setting out.

We are planning on attending but might be late as we need to drop-off our youngest daughter at Marsh Farm on the way for a party at 11.00am. We are working on Plan B to get us there for 10.30am as it would be great to meet some familiar faces beforehand. Will confirm ETA as soon as we can.

Been past this spot 1000's of times and never seen the church. Really nice. Well organised cache hunting route. TFTC

This one has been on our todo list for sometime as we had left Holly and Charlie at home this evening we thought we would stop and hopefully grab this cache. I love the driveway to the church - very grand!!! Lovely pretty church and found the clues with ease and the cache was a nice find too!! TFTC SL@8.20pm

Saw this come through whilst at RR34 so headed over this way, well my oh my fantastic I did supsect where this maybe due to a few co-ordinate adjustments recently This cache certainly didnt disappoint - truly fantastic!!! Left TB will drop some large goodies off in the week. TFTC SL@6.15pm and I certainly could see the Kitty Cacher influence here

600 Was stuck on a train waiting to leave Liverpool Street when this popped up on my phone and knew it had to be our 600th. Collected Jess from party who agreed that as it was a Schoolfrenz special and No 600 we should go tonight. And what a mighty fine cache it is too! Biggest we've found to date! Jess loved doing the honours opening it up and selected a kitty from the treasure trove of goodies and left a small teddy (be quick Sienna!), little bears, clip and wax scratch cards. I picked up the Wigan TB. We then sought out Mr and Mrs Schoolfrenz and shared a celebratary cup of tea! Thanks for a perfect 600th. TFTC

Parked up at the pub and had a friendly chat with the owners who seemed lovely. Holly and Charlie had a great walk along the beach and playing in the sea, they were in heaven as it had been so warm today and they love the water. Got to GZ and found within a couple of mins - sneaky hide!!!! TFTC SL@7.30pm walked back along the beach and had a drink at the pub and watched the world go by!!!

Bendos and I thought we'd try and knock off these new ones. Alas not to be. We hunted for a while but to no avail. Will try with a fresh set of eyes some other time.

Pity we couldn't tick Tollesbury off the list. Maybe wait for the marshes series publishing before we have another go.

Having solved this last night after days and weeks off pondering and small hint from McWomble a while ago Jen suddenly hit the right track and wey hey she was one happy lady but due to the event last night didnt have chance to collect the cache but tonight however was a warm and beautiful evening and the stroll to this cache was idyllic. The dogs enjoyed this very much too!! The smell of summer was here and we are only in May. Soon found cache as Jen had even worked out the hint anagram she must be eating more greens or something. The bluebells were stunning nearby and the sound of the brook was beautiful. Took GC left TB TFTC SL@6.00pm now onto the next puzzle but we have just noticed a new cache has been published - hmmmmmmm we must stop by on the way through to Maldon.
