Today we hiked the Hooker Valley Track and found all seven Geocaches on the track. Despite the rainy weather it was a nice Tour.

Did the Hooker Valley Track today and enjoyed the beautiful views. Of course looked for the caches on the way. The wall in the hint was obviously not standing anymore. Could make it to find the cache though. Tftc!

Unfortunately our luck with having perfect weather ran out today with rain and low cloud all over the mountain/village. Our plans for a helihike and Mueller Hut stifled, so we thought we'd fill in a bit of time with some geocaches and the Hooker Valley. The caches I found were really dependant on the traffic of muggles in the area, so if I didn't spot them from a quick glance I just kept moving.

The tarn barely has any water left in it, but the area still offers great views of the valley. There doesn't seem to be an obvious wall here anymore so the spoiler photo came in real handy.

Just about to dnf this until it hut me where it was.

The 6 of us had some fun and played games over the Christmas period as you do. Challenging each other to be best. Little did those 5 muggles know but they were actually solving puzzles for me. I'd solved quite a few over the years but never collected them, so over the next few days I converted some blue question marks to smilies.

After a little search the cache was soon found. I signed the log, and then I replaced it as found.

Obviously I'm not gonna talk about the puzzle, but I'm sure gonna talk about the container. Well Mr Crow!!
I checked other logs for any reference to it. I'm glad grinning_buddha also recognised what it is. I hope its been cleaned well. I wonder who owned it before it became a cache? You?? so funny, it made my day, my favourite colour as well!! Everytime I thought about it, it made me giggle. Not that I have one ofcourse.
Have a fav point for having the audacity to put it out. Oh I had a lot of help with the puzzle.

Pleased to solve yesterday and locate the revised addition this morning whilst in the area.

I have been meaning to visit here for months when birding in the area. After our visit to Tiptree Heath today, we took a detour home to complete and sign the paperwork. TFTPC Mr Crow.

We had arranged to meet up with kareninwb to find the replacement series. We certainly got our steps in for the day.

Like for the other three we were pipped to the post again by the same person. TFTPC.

Met up with the Avenue Two to look for these four new caches on Tiptree Heath. I had also found the original caches on the heath and realised what we needed to do. It still took several circuits of the Heath to find the information we needed I The search got off to a bad start for me as following following my move ,I wasn't able to locate my walking boots, and I managed to slip over in the mud with 20 yards of the car!

With the information finally gathered we went back to the car to work out the location of the four hides and then off to GZ to look for them. Several dog walkers and a couple of families out on the heath today and we passed most of them more than once.

No problem with the hides. Thanks for the new RRs, Mr Crow. We had fun!

I recall the original and its field puzzle with fondness.
I had no issue with the pre-decimal calculations. Despite having the original answers and coordinates the adjustment process evaded my memory. A helpful nudge and I was able to proceed and solve.
Just enough time for a visit this morning and it was quickly found and signed.

Nearly there! We were excited by the sign advertising the alpine tarn, and a little sad to see it dry. I looked around with no luck and eventually decided to look up the spoiler photo. I was standing 30cm from the cache! TFTC

When I came to the Campground I saw clouds was coming and I though, to late, but at the end of thid nice trip the Mt. Cook was komplett free.

Spent the morning scouring the heath for the answers and retired home, cold and hungry, to work out the results.

I decided to seek '6 and 8' (a phrase that intriged me as a schoolkid £/3)
To re-find #8 was compromised so I walked on here.
The puzzle should have been a quick solve but I eventually needed a nudge to make the final step.
I had failed to find pre-solve and it wasn't immediately obvious today. My pacing was way out but GE and mistletoe! came to my resuce. Not surprised I had failed to conjecture previously.
Quite a difficult find and 3rd to sign(!) before replacing as found.
TFTC&P always a pleasure to find a RR.

Passed today and unable to check due to a worker very close by.

Intriged that this has 5 green ticks yet its paired puzzle just the 1.

Without GPS help these were going to be tricky. However I had high hopes of finding this one. My 'map' was clear but my interpretation of a boundary led me in the wrong direction. Once re-oriented I was in the right area and searched a nearby hinted location.
Meanwhile Kitty!! who was accompaning me found it nearby.

After a short search we found the NFC tag. However we couldn't read the tag. Only a few weeks ago the 'NFC Tools' app worked for us at another geocache.
Maybe it has been damaged by the weather?

It's been 2 years since we solved this puzzle and no cachers have visited since.
Today, no problems in finding the cache or signing the log.
A cache resuscitation after 4 years.

We had two iPhones with us. At #1 Mrs J couldn't get close enough to the gravestone for the question to trigger. The closest was 12m twice. So that was one device down, one to go.
At the Telegraph Pole Mr J's iPhone couldn't get closer than 20m. Our devices were claiming device accuracy as 5m, so that's strange.
Fortunately, this was where we had parked the car. So we drove home to Cambridge.

We had plotted the benches before our visit.
Before visiting the benches we sat on bench #3 and had our lunch in the sun.
A sort of multi-cache with a difference.

???? Had solved for a while but in the area today. Went for the obvious but mapping was not right. Had to really look before something that might fit the hint. Don't like crawling at our age but luckily didn't have to go as far as feared.

Hello,
Today we walked the Hooker Valley Track to Hooker Lake. We were on our way in time because it was supposed to rain from noon. On the way there I actually only looked for one cache, the others were visited on the way back.????

At times it was extremely windy and you thought you were going to be blown away. ?????????It was so shaky over the suspension bridges that shortly afterwards you continued to rock on the gravel as if the ground is moving.
????

I found all but the last one on the hiking trail to the lake. When we got back and were having coffee in the visitor center, it started to rain ????

We hiked to Hooker Lake today and saved a few caches for the way back. This one took a long time to find, and the spoiler photo hadn't downloaded on my app, but jup eventually found the spoiler photo and the cache. It started raining after this, so we skipped some of the other caches we had saved for the way back.

Worked these out a couple of weeks ago but didn't have time to collect all four of the yellow faces. Returned today and made a quick find.

Found it during our trip to Hooker Lake. Tftc ????

Whilst walking up the Hooker Valley Track we decided that the tarn looked a nice place to stop for our lunch. After munching on our assorted goodies I checked my phone for nearby caches. What do you know? There’s was one within 20 metres but after a bit of hunting we decided to use the spoiler photo. Hmm…the CO looks kind of familiar and after double checking I realised it’s the same person who has published a series of 200+ mysteries near where I live…in the UK! With a friend we’re slowly working our way through hem but have only found about 50 or so.

The spoiler photo is a little out of date as the vegetation is a bit more overgrown but eventually I managed to line up all the points in the photo and we found it!

We left the madding crowds behind to have lunch by this little tarn with a big view. And we were surprised to see a cache by a familiar CO near our home in south east England! We took a bit of time to find it but we didn't want to give up on this one. TFTC!

Another of Crow's reissued caches so should be a doddle.

No problem with the puzzle but I couldn't remember how to get the coordinates.
Unfortunately my notes in the early days of caching were pathetic.

Today we were on the Hooker Track. We startet early and it wasn't much crowdy at that time. The weather was beautiful for a walk.
The coords and the spoiler were perfekt, so we found the cache very quickly.

I remember the first Cats and Crows puzzle by Mr Crow and loosing one of the vital pieces for the final puzzle. On that occasion I was with Sids Grandma and we hadn't realised we'd made matters worse by replacing the lost piece with the what we thought was correct but which only fouled up the puzzle!

Not the same MO for this one, but finally got some promising looking coordinates and was pleased when the checker gave me the 'green light'.

Met up with Snoopyus this morning, and after coffee and biscuits, we set off to look for this one. Spotted and retrieved by Elizabeth.

Having a catch up with Kareninwb , she kindly explained what I needed to do to have a chance of solving this, it’s the sort of stuff that fills me with dread and stress as several maths teachers past and present will testify. Mind you I expect they became even more stressed….
There was one historical part though I was more than able manipulate.
After some lunch I had recovered enough to be able to go and find the cache, we parked nearby and strolled to gz were the cache was soon found. Think we disturbed a courting? couple who were parked in a car in front of Karen’s car????????.

I had the same solve issues as with its pair#6.
As I walked from the car I had a cursory look for #2 on my way without finding.
I had detatiled pace notes for this and even a stretch to calibrate my paces if required. Not necessary as on approach I felt it was familiar and it must be. Not found immediately so searched nearby before returning and digging a bit deeper.
Always good to find a RallyRound. TFTC&P.

All caches found no problem and surprised how large these woods were!

Staying just half a mile down the road, did the nearby wood caches and had a look at this one. Finally managed to get one of our phones to work (both iPhones) managed points 1 and 2 with no problem but point 3 put us .6 of a mile away from point 2 in the middle of a field we walked a lot of distance trying to access but couldn’t get anywhere near. Given the theme of the cache we didn’t think it seemed right so gave up, which was a shame.

Spent 45 mins looking because of those two finds after the series of DNFs. Even with clues and photo spoiler no luck. Hope those two were being honest, good luck to the next persons to search. Really bummer after reading such a wonderful story behind this cache. Walking away with a pretty glum vibe thank goodness for the views to cheer me back up.

After jumping the stream (and nearly falling in, much to my wife’s amusement), I was greatly relieved to find this cache still in place after several years of dormancy. TFTC.

Greetings from Norway! I visit Witham for a week, and today camilla_aa and I took a walk from Coggeshall, through Kelvedon, and back to Witham. We had changing weather with both heavy rain and sun, muddy paths and asphalt, and many caches on our way. We have been in parts of this area before, but not exactly here. A nice walk with some nice parts and some boring ones :-)

Short and easy multi! This cache was easy to find, but I think we found the old container. The last log was from 2019. Didn't find the new one.

Quick side trip to the tarn was well worthwhile! No other people about so was able to grab the cache and sign it without a hitch. TFTC!

Work brought me to Tiptree today so I made use of a lovely sunny lunchtime to come and do some caching. Had a lovely walk round the woods albeit a bit wet and muddy underfoot at some points!

Started here and took a minute or two to spot. Turned out I was in the right place, glanced down and there it was!

Down from Norfolk on a work trip to Tiptree and had planned to come here for this series for a lunch break before heading back.

Glad I did as I had a wonderfully peaceful walk through the woods in glorious warm sunshine and didn't see anyone until I got back to the car. Only issue was the mud and occasional waterlogged path, think the cache attributes might need to say you need a boat!!

This was the first I came to, great hide, soon found and nice to find something of a decent size! Thanks for placing.

Continuing a lovely lunch break walk through the woods. Had to check a few hosts before the cache was found, but another great hiding spot.

Unfortunately the cache had water in it and the bag with the log is saturated, log book is sodden and mushy. No spares with me I'm afraid so CO will need to visit to sort.

Dodging large puddles on the path I found my way to this one.

Cache found ok after GPS settled down. Slightly damp logbook but signable (not as bad as GC2), but could do with time on a radiator I think.

Was slightly freaked out by the large wolf nearby until I realised it was a statue for archery practice!

Final cache on this lovely walk. Wandered about for several minutes trying to find this one.

Read previous logs but still no joy, then did the classic "Ok I give up....oh look there it is!". Amazingly well camouflaged; giving this a favourite point for that plus for the whole series as I've had a great lunchtime walk today, aside from the boggy and waterlogged paths!

On our way to visit the in-laws in Debenham and stopped along the way to pick up a few caches to break the travel fatigue. Parked up on the high street and proceeded to the cache locations hoping the rain slows down a bit.

A brisk walk up the high street and we were soon looking at what remains of the Village Sign - ie nothing, just a pole, whilst also seeking the AL stages. It may be that it is being maintained so should be back soon. Noted the info and soon had the final location sorted not too far. A quick find at the final location so great accuracy and useful hint. We discovered two caches but picked up the bigger one which had a nice empty clean log for us to sign.

Passing this today. After a little search the cache was soon found. I signed the log DW and nearly fell in the ditch as the handrail was broken.

We carried on towards this cache and I was pleased to hear Argus call out ‘there it is’ as we approached the host. A nice simple find to keep our yellow smileys ticking over. TFTC ????

This one was pretty conspicuous and was spotted on approach. The local wildlife have had a little nibble, but all in good order and replaced with a bit more cover.

In our pursuit of a place on the 'finds in one day' leaderboard this is probably the cache that cost us. A long walk without a find at the end that took the best part of an hour out of the day. There seemed one obvious host but despite a good shakedown we have missed it.

Getting on a bit of a roll now after a few early DNFs. We found a parking spot a bit further down tha lane and walked towards the royal sounding house. Our hearts sank when we saw the new (and I mean new, it still smelt of pine) bridge that appeared to be at GZ. Not to worry though, the cache was found safe and sound nearby.

We knew we were in the right place but something about the hint didn't make sense on the ground until we realised that the little tree was now horizontal, where once it was vertical. Understanding this we made the find.

We parked in the little car park and made our way to GZ for one of the more straightforward finds of the day. Ate lunch on the way because I'd fogotten to factor in some kind of break. That's how hardcore we are.

This confused us a little.

The coordinates had us at the northern end, the hint at the southern. Either way, we couldn't see it.

We parked up near the end of the footpath and made the short walk down to this one. A man was approaching so we walked past and waited for him to move further along. He kept stopping and starting so it was a few minutes before we could go back and search properly.

We searched around but didn’t initially spot anything so I took a different vantage point and spotted the cache a short while after. Log signed and returned as found, thanks for placing. ????

We had to walk past a couple of muggles here who were walking towards GZ. Then a couple of horses were being walked into a field by there owners. One of them seemed to be having a little mischievous fun. Even when it got into the field it was rolling around in all of the mud.

Spotted something a little out of the ordinary but failed to spot the cache, so Argus stepped in and found what I had missed. TFTC ????

This is a busy little track! We knew the hint item was missing, but what was it? I tried to solve the anagram last night but failed. However a flash of inspiration on site and we had it figured out. Furby found the cover and Argus the cache.

We were hopeful of a quick find here and so it proved with the host spotted on arrival. The poor tree on the corner has obviously had a fight with a lighting bolt and lost.

Unfortunately we had no joy here despite a good look around the obvious host. A shame having not been found since 2018.

We pulled in nearby and started the search. After a short while we spotted something that fitted the bill with the hint.

Argus clambered in and uttered those brilliant words ‘found it’. A few cars driving by so he had to pick his moment to escape from the greenery lol. TFTC ????

When I'm 64 I hope I'm still able to clamber through thorny hedges in pursuit of small plastic tubs. This one looked harder to get to than it turned out though, and after squeezing between the sharp pointy bits the cache was found.

Had to wait a bit until Furby gave me the all clear to exit.

A short search here in a few holes of various sizes before I spotted a suspicious huff not so far away from where I was standing.

I thought I had found the cache as I felt around the metal fence, but on inspection had found someone's neatly stashed cannibis grinder. Now I'm not one to judge, but I think geocaching is a far healthier hobby. Nevertheless, I don't think that counts as a find.

This one was a nice quick find but hating spiders I wasn’t the biggest fan of retrieving this one. Dropped the cache twice in the process of opening as another 8 legged critter came for me haha.

Anyway after a few minutes of faffing about the cache was signed, replaced and we were on our way to the next cache. Thanks for placing ????

I'm not sure if this one was wired up to a car battery but it made Furby jump on finding it. Apparantly he's not too keen on spiders though, and he tells me there was a deadly venomous one right on the cache. Anyway, he collected the contents from the verge while I signed the log ;)

After trying and only partially succeeding in explaining geocaching by making a futile comparison to Pokemon the occupant of the adjacent property to the cache retreated and we made our way to the next cache (which we didn't find!)

We had a really good look around all the hint items here but we couldn’t spot the cache. Slightly disappointing amount of dnfs today but hey ho!

This was make or break for us. We needed to find this to give us a chance to sneak on to the leaderboard for finds in a day. Sadly despite a really good search of this interesting spot we could see neither the yellow cache hinted at previously, nor the clear plastic container in a cammo bag photographed before that.

I did find a yellow Kinder Egg in the undergrowth which I got very excited about until I discovered that what I thought was the log was actually instructions to build the Kinder Egg toy. Which was missing. Which made me sad.

(Also, this was a blow for Furby as this was the puzzle he had solved. No tears though. Top man.)

Made our way down to this one. On the way to this we did walk past a couple of dog walkers but they were quite a bit further up so no problems looking for this cache once we got to GZ!

A little lap around the hosts before Argus located the big container. Log signed and everything replaced as found. Onwards to the next cache. Thanks for placing ????

This was a 'must do' cache for me as it fills my large cache for Essex requirement. The sign on the gate at the top of the hill said that this was not a footpath, but fortunately I don't speak English and so we continued on the shortest route to the cache.

At GZ a quick find was made after eliminating a couple of places.

We think it was in accessible due to the bog ???? well come back when dryer

Well that was annoying. Having solved the puzzle last night (I’ve clearly found my level ) and being in Maldon this morning I stopped off here before heading home . I even had wellies in the car so managed the ditch. Unfortunately I could not find the cache at all - annoying when it was found recently . Ho hum. TFTC

Had time to spare this afternoon before helping at orienteering coaching on Tiptree Heath, so decided to pick up a few local caches and the AdLabs at Tolleshunt Knights.

This is the only time I have been in this area without a dog in tow, so an ideal opportunity today to venture in to find this cache. From a previous recce, I knew where the gateway was in Park Lane, although the only sign up now says “No Dogs�, no mention of it being a nature reserve so I hoped it was still open to visitors.

I was delighted to find the orchids in full bloom (see photo) although had to tiptoe across really carefully to avoid trampling them with my huge hoofs. Entering the little wooded hedgerow was a hands and knees job under the hawthorn bushes, but once in there I spotted the cache quickly as it was on the ground.

After signing the log (slightly damp,,not sure why), I replaced the cache in the tree, and found a less thickly vegetated exit. Cacophony of dogs barking from neighbouring properties, I did hope I wouldn’t be asked what I was doing, although I did take several photos of the orchids as a cunning alibi.

Well these were right up my street! ????????. As an orienteering coach, Tiptree Heath has long been one of our mapped areas that we use for coaching, and I knew exactly what had to be done. It also helped that I had found the previous incarnations of these caches (but thanks for doing them again!), and was also lucky to have a certain resource up my sleeve ????

Anyway having solved them soon after publication, I knew that this evening I would be here to help with the coaching (Essex Stragglers Orienteering Club (known as SOS) if you wondered). So I arrived nice and early and left my fellow coach to place out the orienteering controls (see photo) while I went on the hunt for these four caches.

This was my first, and although the signal was a bit dodgy under the tree cover, the hint was really helpful and I soon was uncovering the cache. Lovely sized cache too, great location, fav point here for the series. TFTC.

Nearby was what we call in orienteering a “catching point� - a feature that indicates you have gone too far past a control - this one was very obvious and quite noisy!
Now back to the car park to start greeting our coachees for the evening.

Continuing my trot around the Heath. No ponies today unfortunately, although later I did hear a nightingale bellowing away so that made up for it.
No problems with this cache after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing. One advantage of orienteering is that usually you can see the controls from a distance, whereas this cache was buried in leaf litter…Still, no problem. Photo of our 21st century equipment for orienteering ????

After RR053 - Totham Plains (2) I got back in the car only to notice I had been running on empty! The only thing for it was to hope I could make it to Tiptree.
When I set out Endevour(2) had not been published. Seeing this, I decided not to head here as I knew I'd be back.

I remebered the solve of the previous incarnation so solved quickly. (RR051 - RGB (2) took a little longer). Armed with a mental map of where to go I set out.
On the way I was distracted in Rivenhall and ended up being over an hour later than intended. I assumed as the Ad Lab had been found this probably had too, but to my surprised there was a blank log.

This took a little while to solve, not having any notes of the original. I intended to find on the 10th but circucstances conspired to prevent that from happening.

Kwik solve. No chance to visit until today, and still no logs.
As I wander here from the call I recalled a previous visit where I met an otter.
The cache gave me an opportunity to tell the dad joke: What's the difference between a chicken tikka and a chicken tarka? Tarka's a little 'otter. Well worth repeating. ????
At gz it wasn't the first place I looked but soon found.

Out with Kareninwb to do the adventure lab caches which we enjoyed and then a pleasant walk to find the bonus cache, a good start to a Sunday morning.

After an early breakfast with Snoopyus nearby we decided to attempt the New Adventure Lab in Great Totham South. Although I don't live as close to Great Totham as I used to, I still know the area very well. My children went to the local school, I was involved with St Peter's church for many years, and a lot of my friends live here. Great Totham was a very busy place this morning with lots of young kids on the cricket pitch taking part in a children's cricket club, and many parents sitting close by watching their youngsters having such fun. What a shame this opportunity wasn't around when my three were younger!

Worked out where the final was and set off to find it . A familiar area for me as a friend rented a cottage very close to here when she was having some every extensive repair work done on their house. The cache was found without any problems and the logsheet signed.

Struggled with the English versions and the previous German version so solving was unlikely.
Previous knowledge allowed partial coords and then conjecture and checker hitting then resulted in the 'solve'.
Spent some time where the new coords put me before widening the search slightly.
Found the oriningal RR166 in the undergrowth before the recent version.

The route was not an issue but the coding still evades me. At one point I thought the path might spell something.

After breakfast with Snoopyus and a bit of local caching we went our separate ways. I diverted to have another look for this cache. I'd failed miserably to find it in November 2022. I'd hoped for more luck today but still found nothing.

After an early breakfast with Snoopyus nearby we decided to attempt the New Adventure Lab in Great Totham South. I think I solved this one during lock down and it has been on my list of caches to go and find for sometime. I used to past relatively close by on the way to and from work but was never really dressed for the walk to GZ.

Off to look for it today with Snoopyus. A pleasant walk to GZ and lots of bluebells around. Arrived at GZ and searched several host in the area. We must have been there for about 40 minutes but failed to find the cache. As it hasn't been found for some time message was sent to the CO who has very kindly checked it after our visit and messaged to say it was still there.

Another visit will be planned very soon!

After an early breakfast with Snoopyus we completed the new Adventure Lab in Great Totham and then turned our attentions to some solved puzzles in the local area. Having failed to find the Brexited cache we decided to use our instinct to find another on out way back to the car. Knowing where the the nearby solved Rally Rounds are I used Grahame's method of conjecture to narrow down a possible location for this one!

The technique worked and after a short search Snoopyus called to say she had found it. Although not quite the intended way to find a Rally Round, it worked on this occasion.

Unfortunately we couldn’t find what we were searching for but decided we would explore the route back to the car. Another way to seek and find, sorry Mr Crow! The coordinates didn't take too long to emerge after application of my patent ingenious puzzle cache checklist which soon determined that method 5.24 would be needed.

GZ, once located, was muggle-free, enabling a speedy retrieval and replacement of the cache.

I completed the Ad Labs and plotted the final. I was parked in the village hall and decided it was a nice day to walk to this bonus. The view here is certainly better than at the bench.

After a little search the cache was soon found. Nice hide with a view, and a strong magnet thatctested my fingers. I signed the log with my full name as there was plenty of room, then I replaced it as found.

Muggled!???? by a couple enjoying the sunshine and minding their own business, almost on top of GZ. I'd say "will return when it's raining" but they have a tent ????.

The threatened rain didn't materialise, though there were a few wet spots when the wind gusted, so I had a third pleasant stroll visiting the four GZs.

At this one the GPS led me astray at first, making my progress to the correct location a slightly higher terrain rating than listed, and a number of scratchy thorns transferred themselves to my socks. When I found my way to the correct host it presented no problems.

As I was visiting Tiptree Heath today I continued into the heart of Tiptree and took the Tour (but I was too late for tea and cakes, probably as well for my waistline.) The bonus provided a little more exercise, not following the linear plan of the main tour, and I soon had the container in hand and was able to place my my mark on the final square. Unfortunately I didn't have any paper in the right format to add to it, so a visit from the CO might be necessary in the near future.

I was passing through the area today and by good fortune I could spare the time for these today. I needed to stretch my legs anyway. I completed all stages of the labs without any great problem, though one stage had me scratching my head for a while. The walk to the cache was very pleasant indeed, and as the distance counted down I knew exactly where the cache would be found. Happily proved correct in this assumption, I signed the log and replaced the cache exactly as found. The walk back to the car was even more pleasant than the walk to the cache as I has some lovely views or admire as well. Thanks for the cache Mr Crow.

We had no luck at GZ we did check with a previous cacher who has found it and could not find it where they mentioned to us so think it may have gone missing especially as it has not been found for a long time and there has been tree chopping in the area.

We drove to the GZ in February this year, but for some reason neither of us can remember, we didn't log a visit.
So I returned today, made a quick find, and discovered that we hadn't signed the log back then.
All good now. Thanks for the puzzle.

This time I parked to the east of the cache, which made a shorter and more pleasant approach.
Found the cache immediately in the cleft of the tree I had visited before.

A cool, shady walk in the woodland today and the first in this mini series was quite a surprise. We soon found the location and quickly uncovered the lovely, well hidden cache. The log was soon signed and the cache returned to its hiding place. Thank you.

Nice to sign a clean new log here even though we clearly are not the first to discover Georges cache. Another good hide and fun cache. Thanks for bringing us here today.

Out on a walk with my non-caching friend today, starting at Messing and doing a 6 mile loop around Coneyfield, Pods and Layer woods. A lovely walk in these beautiful woods, with a picnic on a fallen log. Signed all logs RRMM for Rachel, Redd, Martine and Max.

This was the last of the mini series for us, as we wanted to avoid the road, but a surprise to find a container like this - I’ve never seen a cache like this before! Great place to hide it. Chuckled a little that there was a slight variation in the hint for this one.

Now to return via the Ramparts (what an impressive structure - Civil War maybe?) to Pods wood. Last photo of dogs on footpath uploaded.

Had to go off-piste here to find the correct path as we had obviously missed the turning. Once at GZ, Martine quickly found this nice sized cache. We couldn’t work out why it would be so damp, and we drained some water out. Nice clean dry log sheet though, thank you.

We had lunch on a fallen log near here, and nearby noticed a gremlin outline on a tree. Loving this walk,,TFTC.

I was freaked out to see the nearby lurking creature until I realised there was a reason it was so still…. Cache found quickly, a swap made as Martine’s granddaughter loves dinosaurs!
We did enjoy seeing the Speckled Yellow Moths fluttering along the nearby sunlit ride.

This was the first of the day as we approached across the Ramparts from Pods Wood. Spent a few minutes searching the wrong side of the path before reading a previous log,,and Martine quickly spotted the tell-tale bark-o-flage. Nice pot, lovely quiet location but I bet very damp in winter months. Loved the dire warnings about the archers - slightly disappointed not to meet Robin Hood.

I could see where peegeenine had been recently, but couldn't find the cache.
I sat down in the sun and rechecked the coordinates while eating lunch.
It all seemed to fit, and I went back to the host and found the cache in a place I hadnt checked thoroughly enough.

A resuscitation after 4 years ???? The revised hint helped as did secateurs. Phew … finally … after 2 DNFs

There WAS a problem with my NaviCrow last week. After the final waypoint, it told me "The cache" was only 32 metres away. Coincidentally, there was an appropriate host at that position but no container. I reported this to Mr Crow who has kindly sorted me out, and today I found the cache and signed the log after beating off the brambles.

Not sure I fully solved the original. I certainly solved this without full comprehension.

I made a real meal of this. Not only the sove but getting to gz. The solve took much longer than it should and although not quite correct was sufficient to extract the coordinates.
Trying to navigate from the RR180 even with a OS map was frought with issues. Then I drove past, then I paced incorrectly. Finally spotted somewhere that looked recently trodden (so assumed ftf had gone) and then a little search the cache.

I had these three caches plotted before we left home thanks to the cache owner's log giving the answers, although there is a new information board there now.
Having a nice birthday stroll with my husband and dog (although my dog wanted to run rather than stroll!).
We had not been here before but really enjoyed the walk around the lakes and saw the nesting egrets and herons.
Of course, I started the wrong side of the tree for this cache and ended up putting my hand in several holes before finding the right one.

I found two caches here! The first was a pot in a camo bag hanging on a dead branch sticking out over the water. when I opened it up the last time the log sheet had been signed was in 2016. It had a large log sheet in it with all the details of this cache on it. I can only assume that it is one that went missing in 2016 and has mysteriously resurfaced. I put it back on a more sturdy 'hook' over the water. The second cache (the current one) I couldn't find so in went my husband while I held the dog's lead. Clever clogs found it really quickly somewhere where I thought I had looked! I signed the log sheets in both caches although both were rather damp.
