It was a beautiful crisp afternoon today. The tide was in and the sea wall was surprisingly busy with walkers. Had to wait for a few to pass before retrieving this one - took longer than it should have done (a few days break from caching and my caching skills aren't so sharp!) TFTC

There are some lovely holiday properties along here with great view across the estuary to Osea Island.

Found the cache without any problems but the log and contents of the container are soaking wet. (will send photographic proof of visit to the CO). TFTC

Having finished the circuit and on the way to the car I noticed that there has been a lot of clearing in the park and the large tree has been chopped. Cache still in place but the gate is locked shut

First one of a day's caching with BoxTeddies, didn't think the littlies would manage a whole section so we worked out a reasonable loop starting from here. Got sorted with our waterproof gear and our gadgets and soon discovered we'd walked right past it! Back tracked, signed log, onwards.......

Again it wasn't totally clear where the footpath was and we were wandering across the turf! Spotted the footpath sign from a distance and corrected our route. Another field full of mud and then we came across a gate with no obvious way through it. Next to the gate we found an overgrown style and it was impossible to use it so we had to climb over the gate. The style at the next gate was a bit easier to use but still overgrown. Didn't think I'd be so grateful to be back on the road! Anyway, Minis went running off to what they thought was GZ but me and Mrs BoxTeddy knew different and we had the cache before they'd even turned around! This was the last one for us on this series, we'll be back to get the others when its sunny! TFTC

Nice to be off the road - but there's even more mud!! Couple of lovely little houses here..... Anyway, found GZ and started the hunt but didn't find anything. Read previous logs to discover that a geodog had knocked the cache out of its hiding place but we were quite certain that they would have replaced securely. Stream has obviously flooded recently so we are assuming it has been washed away. We even searched downstream a little way in case it was nearby but still found nothing. Shame.

Back on our pre-arranged route now and also back on the fields. Found cache with no problems and then used GZ for lunch and a wardrobe malfunction fix! Love is taking off your own socks and letting your 12 year old, who refused to wear wellies because they were wet inside, have them because her own shoes were soaking and covered in mud which meant that her feet were cold!! Luckily I had some home made Sloe Gin........warms your cockles........ Anyway, met a couple of local dog walkers who told us that we could get a coffee at the church in Salcott. Before we had packed up and moved on, they came back again so more chatting and offering of chocolates ensued and THEN we moved on.....oh and I dropped a TB! TFTC

The footpaths confused us here as there was an obvious path through the small woodland but the signs seemed to suggest otherwise? We decided to take the path through the woodland as we'd not been in any other woods today and the path did look well trodden. A MiniBorg found this cache but it was difficult to extract! A nice place for a quick rest, a drink, more chocolates and another boot change! TFTC

Found this fairly easily, a MiniBorg retrieved and there was such excitement about the contents that we almost didn't sign the log! MiniBorg replaced and covered quite well, for a Mini! TFTC

So i was sat indoors at 17:42 when my phone makes that Noise (You know the one that says red duster has been busy again
so i check it out and its another rally round from Mr Crow ohh nooooo but what the heck lets have a look as i tend to look at all of them for 30 seconds at least, that's when i decide no, put it on the pile for when there are no more caches that i can get and i am forced to work out these puzzles well i did have a chat with the CO at the Essex event 17 and told him i would attempt some.

So what have we here as i opened the cache page. surely not a puzzle that i think i can do???
Mr crow you must have made a mistake? this is right up my street i will print off the page and start straight away. Hmm that's were it all got painful. there has got to be a better way than this sticky back plastic and glue not the way lets see what i can do with this software?no that's no good what about this? no well i am not giving up as i know what to do!!!

Now should i go tonight or not. well it is now 22:48 i decided against it as i was tired so i would just have to settle for 2nd or 3rd to find.

got up early this morning and drove down to the area around 8ish bit quiet so i started walking as i looked round a car pulled into the car park. I put my head down and just kept walking, But curiosity got the better of me ,and as i glanced over my shoulder i saw Murrkin strolling along behind could i get the cache first sign it and replace then leave it to him lol. well i am not that type of a person (by the way Murrkin you misted the biggest first out of your log First to find. )
we exchanged a few words and he explained he has not been getting allot of sleep recently and was awake at 0545 with layla so decided to come and get his first Crow cache. we approached GZ and after a quick look i located the cache and signed for both of us and replaced. we both then headed off to work. great cache and puzzle

starting out on this series and not a good start. Tried both sides of the road and no luck. hoping it's not a sign for the day.

nice easy find, although I did have to kneel down and it was a muddy day. pleasant views across the fields, with the mist adding to the atmosphere. tftc

on my knees again but found it. I was a bit worried about dropping it into the stream as no way I'd be getting down, but returned nice and safe. Spooked by a couple of pheasants on the way! tftc

picked up TB. some very lovely brambles. tftc

it was a bit of clambour across - I do enjoy seeing footprints in odd places as evidence of other seekers. Enjoying the walk. tftc

bit of a struggle to get it out, but returned in same way. I assume it's meant to be open and not have a lid! We did the whole walk and I'm doing these logs in the evening as my iphone wasn't charged, so I'm hoping I haven't got caches mixed up! I made very brief notes in the field but now having trouble deciphering. tftc

I really enjoyed working my way through this tour of the local area - would of been a very long walk if it wasn't a virtual tour. Some stages came easily and others were just a little more cryptic. However, eventually very happy to get to the final cache location.

Today, after waiting for Flutterbe- to return from work we went on a three Mr Crow cache quest - this was the second. We had attempted this one previously but were met with a rather large body of water and didn't have waders. This time, there was still a lot of water around but there was a dry(ish) route to gz. The cache was quickly located, but it has been underwater very recently. After emptying the container and the pink liquid from the bag, we extracted a dripping log sheet. I did manage to put our initials on to the log, but only just. Needs a little bit of a dry out.

This was a very nicely created puzzle and one that is right up my street. Really enjoyed doing it and will add a favourite when I have some again. Tried to use the payphone in the ditch next to the parking space, but it didn't seem to be connected.

This is one of the caches that I actually had a clue about solving, and watched baloo work through it and even had a little play with it myself.

I really liked how this puzzle was set out, a bit evil at times but was really well put together.

We had come through to find this before hand, but when we had tried there was a big puddle nearby.

We were passing by today so decided to see if the puddles had dried out a little bit, wandered over and nearly slipped over on the public telephone ( I really hadn't believed baloo when he mentioned this to me) and continued on over to location.

Cache was soon found nicely hidden away, although all of the cache was wet (including the little ziplock bags) so we emptied the water out and signed the log, I think it might need replacing and drying out a bit better though.

Thanks for a great puzzle and a nice location, I hope to see more like this in the future (apart from Rebecca).

As with 'Caroline' I really enjoyed working my way through this tour of the local area - would of been a very long walk if it wasn't a virtual tour. I was happy to see it was different to Caroline - Flutterbe- also went through this tour on her laptop at the same time. We were both very happy to get to the final cache location.

Today, after waiting for Flutterbe- to return from work we went on a three Mr Crow cache quest - this was the third and final. We didn't attempt this one on our previous visit here due to the volume of water nearby. This time, we went straight to gz and realised that we probably would have got to this one on our previous visit. The cache was quickly located, in its nice neat hiding place. Condition of cache was virtually new - it could easily have been placed in the last few days.

This was anothe very nicely created puzzle and one that is right up my street. Really enjoyed doing it and will add a favourite when I have some again. Another really good puzzle, and also a lot of twists and turns in the puzzle, really enjoyed sitting watching baloo do this and also having a little go myself.

Was in the area so decided to go and pick the cache up.

Parked up and avoided the trees hitting me in the face, wandered over and soon found the neatly hidden cache.

Began walking back when I accidently found a squidgey puddle, nice a soaking wet all up my shoe, (oops) oh well... I carried on like a trooper back to the car

My first reaction to Rally Round puzzles on issue normally involves a blank expression, a bit of cog twirling and a blank notebook. This time, something clicked straight away and I knew what would be needed. However, how then to get a coherent set of co-ordinates from it was a different matter. I got my first pointer from Mr. Crow to set me on the right track and quickly got the first few numbers. However, the festive season intervened and I put it down for a while, knowing it had already been solved and not expecting any chance of being the first finder.

With the festive season over, I had another look at this over the weekend and generated a nice spreadsheet which has an awful lot of numbers on it. Having removed one self imposed constraint, my spreadsheet gave quite a few potential numbers, some of which could work on Google Maps. Alas, none of them seemed to agree with gz checker (I added a few to the incorrect total).

In a state of semi despair, I emailed Mr Crow again with my basic workings and it was confirmed that I had imposed a second constraint on myself. As soon as this was removed, my spreadsheet made perfect sense - I didn't need the gz checker as I knew it was right. I certainly made a meal of this, adding an unnecessary level of complexity.

Anyhow, I said to Flutterbe- before she went to work this morning at the bowling alley (of all places) that I was going to go hunting without her while she was at work. This was not a popular proposal, so I thought I had better wait until the early evening. Having another two Mr Crow puzzles to collect in a similar area, we set off on a three cache quest. I'm glad to say, it was a very quick hunt when we arrived at gz and very happy to see a blank log sheet. My first FTF on a Rally Round cache. - Even if I did get a fair bit of help.

A favourite point will follow when I get more (I've being too many awesome caches recently).

Mmmhm.. What can I say about this cache.

Well baloo solves puzzles, not me. So obviously I can't write about the puzzle or how it was solved, sadly

Although when I arrived home Saturday night after work at the bowling alley, hehe, I was greeted by a tired and grumpy baloo who had just spent the whole day trying to solve the puzzle, a full spreadsheet of all wrong co-ordinates and I felt very bad.

A few e-mails to crow'mbase and the correction in the puzzle was solved, worked out the numbers quickly after that.

Said he was going to get it whilst I was a work, but a very impressed hmppf and annoyed face swayed him.

A nice cache find this evening, and a nice blank log book.

It is really dark now so we are searching in torch light. The boys were all over the place looking and I went to were my Garmin (I actually have it now, for the first time today!) said and there was the cache, but it took me longer to get it out lol. One day soon it will get stuck inside.

The dogs were back off their leads, as it is a very quiet lane, and Joss and James had gone off with the Garmins and were looking in the wrong place.

I saw the hidey hole and went in to retrieve it but caught my hand on a branch and drew blood lol, pointed to where it was to Pip and he grabbed it. We then waited for a while laughing to ourselves whilst the boys carried on looking, hahaha!

Another lovely part of the walk here, we stopped to look at the pond with all the ducks, coots, geese etc., then to talk to some lovely little Llamas (or are they Alpacas??) and finally two gorgeous shire horses. I was in my element lol, I love animals and birds, could of stayed there all day!

Anyway, we finally moved on, and the cache didn't take long to spot.

We saw the 'lane' approaching on the OS map, however it isn't really a lane more like a track, so we made the decision to leave the dogs off the lead for a bit longer and see how it goes.

Just as Joss went to retrieve this one someone appeared next to us in a 4 x 4, but luckily they didn't ask what we were doing and just turned around and headed back up the track, PHEW.

This was an interesting one.

Both GPS units were taking us to the same place, but there was no sign of the cache, we searched in other places, checked the hint no luck.

I then decided to have a read of some older logs on my phone, and said it is definitely there, but just at that moment Pip found it UPstream, stuck in some sticks. It must have got washed out, so it is amazing that we managed to find it. That's another Essex 100 cache we have rescued lol.

This for me was the best part of the walk, as we were walking past the old barns (we were doing the route backwards) a Barn Owl flew out and around us and over to a tree on the far side of the field. I really love Owls so this was definitely the highlight of the walk, just wish I had brought my new Camera with me lol.

Once at GZ the cache was quickly in hand. Strange notice on the gate about shutting it due to a dog because there is no fence and it can just walk around the gate anyway lol!

Giving a favourite point here due to the Owl, it made my day.

Got stuck into this right away. Had no access issues at first but then seriously resrtricted in the way forward. Definitively need to ammend our map. By the way another puzzle of outstanding natural beauty.

Oh what to write?
We had already found four Rally Rounds today, but with some daylight left we thought we would go in search of another. This was not the intended cache!

The way into this cache had greatly exercised our thought processes and felt we were on the right lines. Searching for a signal within on several occasions. However with no green light we waved the white flag and surrendered.

In locating this, perhaps an uncoordinated approach is appropriate. It is not without some irony that we should find this cache when conjecturing another.

We feel a little embarrassed and are reluctant to claim a ftf. First to solve is certainly still up for grabs and we will continue our search.

Thanks for another mystifying and different puzzle which when solved will definitely be another favourite.

"It's close but it's not quite right." Certainly the feeling we had when we set out this morning.
Then just as we're going about our caching business we see something which fitted so perfectly. Making a note to return and investigate later, off we went for some lunch and a few other caches.

Looking at our trusty old OS didn't enlighten us but as we returned we thought "it's good" and then there it was.

A unique puzzle in our experience and certainly a favourite. TFTC.

Last of the solved rally rounds of the day. The 'solving' came from a generous reponse to an incorrect Crowchecker. Once our punctuation was sorted we quickly obtained the co-ordinates.
On arrival we were prepared for a spot of pacing but not required. Another good hide.
SL and returned as found TFTC. Now for a little Crowjecturing

Informative and educational as well as cleverly put together. Revisited the puzzle last night after stalling when first published. Discovered my mistake regarding Greg (and discovered Greg's mistake!) and then within minutes a very plausible set of co-ords appeared.
A reasonably quick find in a classic Mr Crow type gz. SL left nickel and a dime.
Not quite sure why this cache pleased us so much but it did and does. TFTC.

Gilly new what needed to be done and was soon snipping away. Once snapped computer says "no". So only one thing for it. Four hours later, et voila computer says "N51 ... "

For most other cachers that would be it but for us this area is notorious for not looking anything like our sketches or maps when on the ground. Today was no exception. We journeyed past angler fish ducks lakes swans and through mud until something felt right. Where thankfully we found a well hidden cache.

We signed the log beneath the other finders, (inc the murrk ) and replaced as found.
A favourite so far today, but the best was yet to come! TFTC.

After finding "Phoney" we thought we'd grab some Essex 100s along the sea wall as we had a couple of hours to spare. This was a nice easy find. SL TFTC #1,138

Another Essex 100 cache done! This one took a bit longer but re-read the clue and hey presto all was fine. SL TFTC #1,140

With freezing cold fingers, the log was difficult to extract. Hopefully placed it in there a bit more accessible for the next set of chilly hands. SL TFTC #1,141

Wow, thought the smell was bad at the last cache!! I'm sure if the wind came off the land not the sea it would be fine. Quickly retrieved and signed. TFTC 1,143

Darn it, we are running out of time so have to make this the last one, only 3 left in this stretch to attack from the other side another day. Kicked ourselves as we made this slightly more difficult than necessary, moral is read ALL the information! SL TFTC #1,144

I don't like caching in the dark on my own but I had to take my son into Maldon so that he could enjoy a drink with his mates and so I decided to pick this one up on my way back. No problems here although I did loose the base of the container in the dark and spent a frantic few minutes looking for it. TFTC

Tried to do the other new Crow cache on the way back but as I pulled up at the passing place the curtains were pulled back in the house opposite and I was being watched. Being a bit of a wimp, and preffering not to have the police called, I decided to return to this one on another day.

Been meaning to get this one for a while easy find. TFTC

For some time we looked at this puzzle and we eventually had some idea as to where we thought it might be. Unable to get the exact co-ords we put it to one side and put our efforts into another challenge.

Today while we were out and about we decided to investigate and working with the information we knew we were able to locate this tricky and elusive puzzle cache close to where we thought it might be. Apologies to Mr Crow for the conjecture involved in the final location, but we were delighted to finally put this troublesome Rally Round to bed.

Thanks for another original and unusual challenge.

Firstly 'Congratulations' are in order. When I first saw this puzzle I was hooked, it was on the to do list. It proved to be one of those puzzles that you can stare at and stare at yet see nothing, then all of a sudden an idea comes to you and you're on the way. Soon had a plausible set of numbers and then came the exciting bit...that millisecond that it takes for the checker to come back with SUCCESS!

Most enjoyable and quite unique puzzle and a nice quick find at the GZ. Thanks.

What a puzzle! It took a while to get our heads round this one but finally Mr.D knew what had to be done. A bit of organisation was required and slowly and surely the numbers fell into place. A bit of a brain strain but the reward was forthcoming and well worth the effort.

A lovely location although a bit muddy in places but the weather was dry and not to cold so an enjoyable walk. Thanks for another great puzzle and a good hide.

Spent a long time on this puzzle gathering more and more knowledge and relevant information as we went along. Took quite a while and a few sheets of paper to finally finish this clever and inspired puzzle and come up with some numbers that looked ok. At first we went great guns but somehow Christmas, the birth of our first grandaughter and a Maggie with a bad foot halted progress and it sat on the back burner awaiting our return. Finally it got the attention it deserved and we were delighted when at last we got affirmation of our hard work on the GZ Checker.

A favourite for a brilliant, interesting puzzle that was a good workout for the old grey matter.

What a brilliant idea and so frustrating. What started off as a seemingly simple task proved suprisingly hard to do. We tried and retried different methods to no avail. Suddenly, after a well earned coffee break we had one more go and there it was....Whew, what a relief. Pleased at last to finally have the answers we needed it felt good to finally consign all of the working out to the waste paper bin.

Fun and annoying, frustrating and clever...a worthy favourite. Thanks for the idea and a really nice hide.

We had an idea where this would be and although the checker told us not we thought we would venture out to see if it was in the area we had thought. An despite the very wet ground and nosy horses a potential place was spotted by little Pazzer and there it was. We whooped at our one and only FTF Rally Round - not expecting to get another one!!. Found what I thought should be GZ. There was some stickofage but no cache beneath. Replaced as found.

As I now have the correct numbers for the off set this was a bit easier to locate. The container had fallen from its location and was in 3" of water, pleased to find the log was still dry so signed. The outer parts are very dirty and had to emptied of water. The CO may want to have a look at this one. This was the final find of the day for now as I had walked thr whole route in wellies I needed a rest.

Thanks to speaking to Karateken at Essex meet no 19 who gave me a good shove in how to solve this puzzle, I have tonight solved the puzzle, just having confirmed co-ordinates on the checker. Delighted but I'm going to wait & find it for my 1000th.

Nice walk to GZ, have lived in this area over 30 years and never been down this path. Quick and obvious find at GZ, not surprised it was half inched being where it is.
Obviously no TB's in there either so these need removing from the inventory. TFTC!

A nice day for a pre lunch walk and a chance to clear off the last two 'normal' caches in this area, this one and RR44, two lonely normal caches in a veritable sea of head breaking puzzles stretching as far as the eye can see, what a pain!
Anyway, cache soon located, lovely big container, always a pleasure, nice logbook too! Signed up and left TB, TFTC!

Number 2 on our stroll round the Heath, some swift calculating and duckin' and a divin' and the cache was soon in hand, nice hide in a great location, TFTC!

Nice day for a walk to the Heath and to try and bag these two puzzles. Once coordinates were obtained and maths done, a pleasant stroll to GZ where a short search yielded the goods. Have walked by here a thousand times not knowing we were so close to a cache, always amazes me, TFTC!

Due to some decidedly dodgy map reading on Mr Crazyhedgehogs part we ended up going for a massive detour around half of Essex (it seemed) Mrs Crazyhedgehog soon had the matter sorted and we found the path and soon after, the cache. Nice little location and the camo always make us smile, TFTC!

Seemed like a strange place for a cache, especially when a cursory glance turned up a few other nicer locations. Oh well, TFTC!

Ended up taking a detour along the road to avoid the horses, delightful collection of ducks and geese on the corner provided a nice diversion though, cute critters! Onto the cache, Mr Crazyhedgehog was soon on hands and knees to grab this one, I guess this may be one for nicer weather TFTC!

Thank goodness for frozen ground to avoid the inevitable mudfest presenting itself to us! Cache soon located and log signed, now to try and avoid those curious horses for the next one.....

This was the first of the series for us as we'd parked near the Evangelical Church. Off to a flying start, cache soon located and log signed, neat little path! TFTC

Took a bit poking around with a convenient stick as well as some back bending ( and swearing of course) but retrieved and signed. Placed back at top of hidey hole as bottom is totally full of water.

Nice place to stop and admire the swans and coots and ducks etc on the water, cache found on ground under where it should have been, attached back, all good, TFTC.

Mud! Mud! Mud! Mud! Mud! Mud! Mud! Mud! Mud! Mud! Mud! Nuff said really. Cache found and log signed, off to less muddy pastures!

Could really have done with some longer appendages to retrieve this one, Maglite came up trumps and log was soon signed and off we went. Interesting to see the old Sun pub is now a house, must try and get out a bit more.

The walk to this one was hindered somewhat by the vastly overgrown styles, will need to carry machete in cachekit. Once at GZ, cache soon found and a welcome sit down in the bus shelter to sign log, TFTC!

Almost at GZ when from the next field we spied the largest seagull party seen this winter so far! A vast number of participants all having a great time plus some nice lapwings were invited too. Back to business and the cache was soon found, log signed, dropped sunglasses, picked up sunglasses and off we (finally) went TFTC!

Couldn't resist a look as we were passing no sign at all of cache.

Log signed at 1300 today (FTF). I'd solved the puzzle without knowing when I'd next get to the area, but then needed to make a journey from Derby to Sussex and back, and decided on a detour to see if I could find the cache. It was nice to be out in sunshine after recent snow and rain. (The hiding place was good but TNLN as I hadn't brought any swaps with me unfortunately). Thanks very much to Mr Crow for an enjoyable puzzle and for the cache, and please have a favourite.

Next on the list and this parking brings back memories to nearly 3 years ago (wow alot has happened in that time) when the first Goldhanger route event commenced, it was a fantastic scorching day with wonderful memories... today however couldnt have been more different weather wise the wind chill factor was coooolddd. Brrrrrr. A nice swift find. TFTC

Wow it was muddy but we knew it would be after all the melting snow. The dogs love the mud though. Evie was happily laughing at them whilst they became horrendously muddy. At GZ it was a straightforward find as the cache was out in the open, all contents however were fine. Re-hid well TFTC

Last one of todays quest and Jen soon had this one in her hand. Will return to finish the ones we have left when the weather is slighly warmer TFTC

Jen went in for this one having to master the lake that formed in front of GZ, once that obstacle was overcome she unfortunately hit the barbed wire nearby and hurt herself, once composed the log was signed and cache replaced well. TFTC

Took a couple of minutes to spot this one as a couple of false trails led us up the garden path but luckily we werent distracted for long and cache soon in hand. Evie is now happy chomping on a biscuit in the car out of the cold. TFTC

After what seems like an eternity away from caching, we finally decided to once again brave the outdoors and do this little loop :) The weather was, however, freezing cold and highly windy when we reached the sea wall especially, but at least the sun was shining and we had a lovely walk, 2 DNF's which it a bit disappointing but nevermind!! Have had this solved for such a long time so decided to come out and grab it today as well as trying to clear a few more essex 100 caches although it was bitterly cold.The funniest thing happened Simon was walking across to the cache and he thought that the sheep were getting a little friendly (they were rams) and this one particular ram decided to chase him across the field. It was so funny but Jen couldnt get the video camera up and running in time, it really was a classic moment. Once at GZ and clear of rams, he soon had the cache in hand. Now to get back through the field of frisky rams lol. Brilliant. TFTC

Great respect for sueandadrian for a very strange diversion between Derby and Sussex.

I looked at this properly on Tuesday evening and worked out what needed to be done but over complicated it, some what. Struck between the eyes in the shower on Wednesday morning - another one of those 'doh!' moments I seem to keep having with Rally Rounds. Once in the office very quickly had green light on the crow checker. With no finds at this stage, it was going to be a long day in the office with the prospect of a second RR FTF. My dreams were shortlived as I saw the FTF go through on the journey home.

Needing caches for the calendar and with Flutterbe out on the hunt for number 1000, we decided to leave the hunt until today. Out for an evenign caching session with Flutterbe and JohnnyCaches. We quickly found gz and, with co-ordinates spot on, we quickly unearthed the box.

A great and quite straightforward RR puzzle, once you work out what to do.

I've got to admit I had no input into solving this cache and feel bad for not being more useful, I have seen the workings out but it's all goop in my brain

Popped out this evening to find my 1000th cache and to fill in a date on my calender so decided to head this way and grab this cache as baloo but effort into solving it.

Parked up and walked over to find the cache, was soon found and uncovered after a short search, nicely hidden.

Was with Flutterbe and Baloo collecting Flutterbe's 1000 cache which needed a bit of team work when Baloo wanted to collect this puzzle he solved during the week.

Parked the car at the end of the path and walked to GZ. cache was soon in hand and log signed. Thanks to Baloo for solving.

Pleased to say it has survived the snow. All ok as we popped by.

Dash and cache for me was doing some work down mill lane so this had to be done on my way home. TFTC SL. Had to wait before replacing as there was a young boy watching me from the house opposite.

A Siberian wind, low cloud and drizzle didn't help, but we battled through and found 11 caches from this series, with no DNFs.
Our last find of the day (yes, we did it backwards); a good place to hide the little film pot.
We enjoyed our walk, a favourite for the series here. My brother has never cached before but has achieved his 100 Dartmoor letterboxes badge (!) so enjoyed the hi-tech version of letterboxing.
His GPS said we had walked 6.5 km in 1 hour 52 mins, with 23 metres of ascent/descent. I don't think it took the temperature too - but it would have been well into minus figures! Now off to the Chequers at Goldhanger to sit by the fire. Thanks for the series.

These steps always make us laugh - restricted access??! (you have to see it to know what I mean!) The cache was a quick find and extracted by my brother, I extracted the log with tweezers - and then lost the lid. A prolonged search with very cold fingers didn't find it, so Co emailed, pot replaced hopefully in the dry. Nice and calm down here out of the wind, but now back up to the seawall again to enjoy the, er, views. The tide was in and we had a great view up the river to Osea Island. The strong wind blew spray from the waves onto us, it was really quite dramatic. Surprised these hadn't been found since September. TFTC and walk today.

Walking upriver to go with the icy wind, we saw Canada geese, an egret, lapwings and lots of other birds we couldn't name (and it was too cold to stand and look for too long!)
This cache was tucked right in, but soon found whilst my brother hopped over the iron wall to inspect the beach - the tide was right in. TFTC.

Now arriving at the sea wall, we had planned to walk eastwards, assuming that the wind was coming from the west. However, we now discovered it was coming from the east very rapidly, so walked westwards so at least we were getting blown along (well, that was the plan). This cache was a quickish find. TFTC.

This one was a surprisingly quick find; also surprising that many of these hadn't been found since November or even September. Mind you, the mud on the footpath along this stretch may have something to do with it ... it was pretty spectacular! TFTC.

This one was our first for the day, and took us a couple of minutes (I blame the cloud blocking out the GPS signal). A bit of a struggle to undo with cold fingers, but got there in the end. TFTC.

Very cross with ourselves. Method correct, however simple error led to Great Totham! Must check our working more thoroughly. Pleased to have solved properly. Look forward to finding soon.

These are the sort of puzzles we really enjoy. Tried one thing at first with no success so out with the calculator and approach number 2. Something is not right so left it.
After much contemplation and a re-examination/questioning of mathematical understanding Gr returned and compared step by step with google earth to discover the(his) error. A sign of old age?

Now check with the checker... NO! What! Why not? It has to be, for more than one(in fact 3) reasons. Ok try that, phew! (Mr Crow Testing Lateral thinking as always).

Today we came to find as we fancied a few caches and a hearty pub lunch. No trouble with the find, though it was bitterly cold as we walked towards gz. SL log ,surprised that there weren't two other signatures, tn and left a RAF medal. TFTC and a super puzzle.

Many congrats to Sueandadrin on their ftf. Not exaclty as the crow flies when traveling from Derby to Sussex!

A first brief look and several differences found but had not spotted them all. Using the the OS map and working systematically this morning produced the required results.
Not the only differences we spotted. Mind you our map is so last century.

A rapid sketch and a look at google earth and we were ready to go. A quick prep of a few other caches we'd been meaning to search out for a while and off we set.
First stop Tiptree for cache and splash of fuel and onwards we go.

Always a pleasure to be in these parts and we smile as we pass a previous RR hide. Soon parked and its a short walk to gz. Gilly had no doubt were it would be and wasn't wrong, spotting the interesting hide straight away. Gr retrieved and Gilly signed under two other signatures.
It was cold now, circa 1pm. All credit to those who ventured here at 1 am!

Log returned and some grass collected for the newly acquired Gillypigs then back to the car and off to a much anticipated and pub lunch. Great food, good beer, leisurely caching and two Rally Round finds. A great way to spend the day off.

A quick mail to CO and he said ours was wrong
So it was back to the map
It was then we noticed the DIFFERENCES RAY !!!! lol (Bad Man )
We then came up with the correct numbers obviously and the checker gave the thumbs up

We started working on this one as soon as we saw it pop up. Lots of texts were going to and fro with ideas, and then all of a sudden I spotted something and we were off.

It didn't take long to get some co-ords but the checker kept saying no, I checked and checked and double checked and was sure I was right but still a no.

A quick email to the CO and he said they were wrong. Back to the map and we started again from scratch, it was then we noticed some things had changed! This time the checker said yes and it was all GO GO GO!

We parked up and headed to GZ, after a short search the cache was in hand, and the log was blank, HIGH FIVE! We signed the log at 1am, must be mad lol!

A great puzzle, I love maps, so enjoyed this one.

Couldn't miss this one considering the massive number of hours we spend trying to do these puzzles!

Returning home late afternoon (Post Mr Crow) we were suitably booted. Not possessing a gps we had made a goodish sketch and two distances to pace. The clue we thought would assist.
After a good, though squelshy walk and some snow in parts we arrived at gz.
No sign of the cache in the obvious places so pacing and re-pacing ensued with the same result each time. After quite a while, and about to leave Gr saw it lying on the floor.
Log signed and returned within a few feet of where found, in a place fitting the clue. TFTC

Solved this some time ago but only got the correct start co-ords by visiting GZ. Back to the computer and got the cache co-ords straight away. Muddy track to GZ but find was quick.

Solved this some time ago but only got a chance to go for it today. Muddy track to GZ but at least the path has been re-instated and it was a quick find. Hadn't read the logs so didn't see Mr.Crow's advice re tweezers. Got the bag out using a mixture of biro top, car keys and bits of hedge. Hope I replaced it loosely enough.

Solved puzzle last year and this was our first opportunity for a visit. Arrived at the suggested parking coords but all the verges looked water logged so decided to leave for another day. Drove on a bit and parked by the church to look for a few more local caches. Having crossed the golf course found we were only a short distance from cache location. Quick find despite one of the highest styles I have seen. Not a very pleasant experience for Mrs gspleo who has problems with styles at the best of time. The footpath was completely flooded but fortunately we were wearing wellies. Thanks for the cache and another interesting puzzle.

Rare that a Rally Round is published and Kitty!! knows instantly how to solve it! On this occasion I did! The Cat and Crow had found a similar puzzle whilst on summer holidays and Kitty was planning to use it for a NoCMoC puzzle cache. Mr Crow severely reprimanded for stealing it! Guess that is the nature of Crows!

Nonetheless, this is an excellent, simple, puzzle and being in the area today I had to visit. Great location. It really does deserve a favourite point - but because you beat me to publication I'm going to be a sour puss and not give one!

When I first opened this one, it instantly got my interest, a map, I like maps. Lets see if I can do this one. Yes, a most enjoyable puzzle, with success at the end. Had to wait until Saturday though until I could go and get it. Spotted quite quickly, SL and left a new pathtag. TFTC. A favourite point from me.

What a day. Wined and dined and showered with flowers! Looked at the puzzle - thought I needed a guzzle! Rally Rounds send me barmy but I found I am good at origami!


One that even fluff brain could do unaided. I had a lot of fun and was delighted with my creation. Even more delighted that GZ wasn't down a boggy footpath as I am rather tired of mud! Loved the container too!

Freezing cold out there today, the kids were turning into icicles! We cut the loop short here and ran back to the car! Tftc!

All being well four of us will attend I will have to miss ringing this morning with the boys.

As usual we did these in reverse order. This was another tree Mrs C'Dog took a fancy to when we walked past earlier but we didn't look. We had to wait to retrieve this as we met one of the bird watchers here who stopped for a chat, this was Biffs turn to retrieve and we soon ad the log signed. Took the TB as we are heading off to sheep country next week. Great walk and we achieved it without either of us falling over in the mud RESULT!!!! Lovely walk on what seems to be the first sunny day for ages, now off to the watering hole for lunch. TFTC

On our way round the Lakes I had admired this tree, but we had carried on our wonderful walk in the sunshine! We stooped at GZ but another bird watcher approached so had to get the mobile out and do a small bit of acting.....after a 10 minute chat we finally had a chance! Biff went in while I watched the bird watcher walk away. SL then back to the car then to one of our pubs to celebrate Biffs birthday. Thanks for all the caches we really enjoyed them!

This was spooky Mrs C'Dog took one look at this tree and said 'that's a good place for a cache, oh I can see it!!' Yes there it was just laid there waiting to be found believe this could have been exposed by animal activity so we added some more natural camouflage after signing the log. We did collect all the numbers for the co-ords as we waked on!!!! TFTC

Mrs C'dog took Biff out for a birthday walk and then lunch and these caches were waving at us from the map to be found! We put our wellies on and set off, it soon became clear that maybe we should have worn waders!! We found the spot and I went in there has been a lot of tree cutting here but the cache was safe and sound and well hidden. A lovely spot! Took the trackable Little Red Elephant and carried on with our sqeulchy walk!

On the off-chance I'd find it, but I didn't. Well it was dark and I haven't solved the location anagram yet. This visit prompted by the inclusion of the necessary photos on the Event Cache page, GC2ZP9C, which lead to a fairly prompt solution which turned out to be correct at the third try.

This one had me stumped!

Lots of water across the road near GZ (reminiscent of driving through a ford). Pulled up at GZ for a quick find here.

Looked for this one in May last year but failed to find it then. Quick find today (I'm sure I looked there last time!). Dropped off TB

The path to this one was very uneven and full of holes - you've certainly got to watch where you're walking. I spent a lot of time searching on the wrong side of the road as that was where the GPS was taking me. It was only when I widened my search that the cache was found It was only when logging that I realised I'd missed Essex 100-5/39 (how frustrating as I must have walked right past it). Dropped off TB.

Quicker find at this one but it's so cold and has just started to snow. Back to the car to warm up. I'll be back on another day for the ones further down the track.

Cycled down from Tiptree - yes a bit cold, but I'd wrapped up well - for a second search, this time in daylight. How many times do I say trust your instinct? If I had I'd have been done in seconds, as it was I followed Garmin and wandered the plantation edge for 10min searching. When found I was 24ft south of Garmin's GZ and as this has happened before I'm wondering if there may be a fault with my unit.

Still haven't solved the anagram!
